    1. [NEWGEN] Most Wanted
    2. Yes I have given up on my most wanted!! Can't get anywhere with them. GGrandfather Asa B. WILSON born 1849 in Indiana and died Jan 23, 1920 Indianapolis Indiana. I have tried all that I know to find his parents and siblings. He married Mahulda Coffey in 1872 Shelby Co. Indiana. They lived there until 1889 moving to Marion Co. Indianapolis. His death certificate didn't list his parents. On the census of 1880 he listed his birth as Indiana and that his father was Kentucky and his mother born in Indiana. That is about all I can find. Also my Grandmother : Lula Inda MILLS born Jun 1890 in Indiana. She went by Louise Mills also. I can't find any birth record for her. She married in 1909 Indianapolis Walter G. Wilson, had three children 1910, 1912, and 1914. Then about 1916 she left the children and Indianapolis. At one time told she may have gone to Chicago and remarried but no records. Also supposed to have died sometime about 1945. I can't any records of a divorce from W. G. Wilson. The only record I can find is the marriage certificate for 1909 and that is where I found her birth date. I have exhausted all that I know to check. Just can't find even one thing. So have decided that I'm at the end of the road for them. I guess they didn't want to be found. I have no one to ask information and there is no paper links to even give me a hint. Cheri

    3. I am looking for an easy program to make web pages. What do some of you like to use? I am using AOL Press now, but wonder if there isn't a more up to date program. Another program I am interested in finding, is an easy program that I could use that would put several photos on one page, like for a family calendar. I would also like to be able to enhance a photo. Thanks Barb

Of course you know about all we are getting here is Political News. Will be happy when we get back to normal. That is really sad to hear about flooding in England. Yes I have checked in often to Hugh CAVE's website that is now up. We also have several good State side CAVE websites. We have not found the proof of our direct lineage into America. The CAVE surname dates back hundreds of years in Europe; and many researchers feel it is Scotch-Irish in origin. Others feel the name is either French or German Huguenots. Regardless of the origin of the surname CAVE, we know that there was one Wymarus deCAVE , who came into North Yorkshire, England with William the Red, as early as 1069, and was given a Manor in Yorkshire. The records show that "The Lordship of Manor deCAVE, Lord of North and South CAVE, Cliffe, Stanton, Newland, Skalley, and Manor of Waldingstone in County of Ebor," left all this property to his brother, Jordayne deCAVE, in the 7th year of the Reign of William Rufus, called William the Red. This Manor is still there today and was recently made into an upper class "Bed & Breakfast" There is a web site about it, which is very FUN to check out. Some of the CAVE descendants have gone there to spend the night.<< I PRESUME you know, Sue, that there is a longstanding one-name study for CAVE, run by a friend of mine, Hugh Cave? If you didn't, I can let you have his address. BTW, I don't know whether you have seen it on your TV news over there, but large areas of England are under water this week as a result of some of the worst floods in living memory. Yorkshire and, in particular, the beautiful and historic city of York, has been particularly badly hit. Rivers are swollen way above their normal levels as a result of heavy rainfall and storms. Those who live along the banks of the River Ouse in the centre of York have flood water up to their bedroom windows. 3. Did your ancestors fight in the Mexican War? The URL below will take you at a good site for research.. While it is NOT a list of all who fought, as many are unknown and there are approximately 11,000 who died and are buried in unknown graves all over Mexico and the Southwest. You can find the names of many at this site who were killed and wounded in the various battles.... and remember, many who fought in the Mexican War, went on to fight in the Civil War.. Also, many Mexican War veterans and their widows, drew pensions and bounty land grants. These are also kept in the National Archives: http://www.dmwv.org/mwvets/vgindex.htm Also has book titles under each state that had soldiers in the Mexican War. So if it isn't on line yet, at least you know which book to search for.

    3. Thought this would get more response than it did. If you watched the "History of Britain" this week on the History Channel, one would wonder how any of us could track them back very far in Britain or elsewhere for that matter. I sure learned a lot about why I cannot find records in the British Islands. What with the Royals going about burning and destroying the churches and villages, as well as the Black Death Plague, I feel lucky to have found some of mine back to the 1650's, where we can prove up the connections and the villages and surnames in documents back to 1066, which gives us a background of the families villages if nothing else. Have one or more surnames that came with William the Red's men, and were granted Manors, but of course cannot make direct connections. After about 1650 for me at least, it then becomes a "History of the Surname." Sue Ellen CAVE ASH .."probably" a descendant of the following CAVE. <GRIN> In the past few years of researching the CAVE family, we have learned that our family's ancestors probably came into Virginia out of England in the late 1600's or early 1700's.
