    3. I am looking for information on my grandfather Joseph William Ellison who, according to marriage records, was born in Vernango, PA in the latter 1870's. I am not sure whether this is the county or township. Another source, his obit, lists Meadeville, PA, as his birthplace. I have tried and tried to locate his name on censuses in those areas but to no avail. I was told by my father that he thought his grandfather's name was Joel. My grandfather, at the time of his death in 1956, had a brother named Edward who was living in New York state. I hope that this gives you some info to go on. I can trace the family from his marriage to my grandmother on, but I am unable to go back any further on his side. Thanks for the offer.
