Lines I am working on, or have information about: Maternal: Shunk, Kelly (still haven't located Mom's dad: Edward Jacques Kelly, b. about 1918), Faulkner, Grizzle, Auten, (others I've not even started yet) Paternal: Boughner, Thompson, Martin, Cannon, Abernathy, Bettice, Fruits, others Marital: Whipple, Grim, Pogemiller, Baird, Millward, Eberhardt, others Brick walls: * Haven't been able to find Peter Boughner's parents, b. KY about 1818. In Indiana on the 1860 and 1870 censuses; NOT on the 1880. * William Henry Whipple, 1850-1934 in New York. Located him (with help!) on the 1880 census in Greenfield, NY as "Henry." Don't have his parents, and no one at Whipple.org has him, either. The Thompson and Cannon lines I haven't really begun, but they're going to be difficult to trace. James Lorenzo Thompson, d. 1927 in Mississippi, married Emma Magdalene Cannon (28 Mar 1880 AL - 24 Nov 1967, Hattiesburg, MS) in 1904. Her father was Abraham, and mother was either Francis or Fannie (no surname). And that's as much as I have for them. There's background information about most of the above on my website, if any of those names are of interest to anyone. http://www.dianaslegacy.net Wendy Boughner Whipple PS: Thanks for the reminder, Bill, this email was written ages ago and not finished. > From: "Dr.Bill" <[email protected]> > Date: Fri, 4 Oct 2002 09:03:00 -0500 > To: [email protected] > Subject: [NEWGEN] Annual Listing > Resent-From: [email protected] > Resent-Date: Fri, 4 Oct 2002 08:02:58 -0600 > > It is time for the annual listing of members and their genealogy lines. The website quoted above has tons of information and documents for my GARNER line. Thanks so much for posting all those URLs. Barbara Vanzant
I'm so excited; I have been contacted by a 2C2R who knew my gg-grandfather. He's given me more names to look for, so I am adding to my most wanted: Martin Louis BOUGHNER (born around 1860 +/- 5, died before 1929) (wife) Ethel MCGLAUGHLIN (he's not sure if that's the right spelling); she remarried John YOUNG when Martin died. (son) Francis Cullen BOUGHNER; his wife Wilma E. COMPTON I haven't been able to verify the relationship exactly, since he believes his grandfather to have been a brother of my gg-grandfather, but is not certain. I haven't seen Martin Louis BOUGHNER living in the household with the other known brothers of Charles Aciel BOUGHNER, unless the census info is just wrong. Off to dig some more, Wendy Boughner Whipple
Okay, I found what you were talking about. The families I am searching for are: McKEAN, I still have not been able to find Joshua McKean's family in Ayrshire Scotland. His death certificate and several other documents have his birthplace in Scotland, but the parent's are always listed as unknown. He was born in 1822. ARNOLD, My grandfather, Leroy. I have only found him on the 1930 census after he married Florence CAMP. SCOTT, Major brick wall here! This is my husband's maternal grandfather. He pretty much stole Mary PRIEST from her husband, Herman BREMER, around 1920 in Colorado. His first son William Jr. actually showed BREMER on his birth certificate instead of SCOTT. He was supposedly in WWI and served in France. PRIEST, This is one I mentioned a few days age when I finally got back on the list. We traced William PRIEST and Catherine EHLE, but instead of their being Charlie's ancestors, they actually belong to his wife, Dora HOWARD. If I'm too vague on any of these, or you have more questions, let me know and I'll give you what I can. Wendy, This doesn't answer your question directly, but you might be interested in this website about Illinois in the Civil War. There's a listing of all the troops by Regiment and Company and perhaps other info of interest to you. I think the inscription on the tombstone is probably just an abbreviation of "Illinois": ILLS. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilcivilw/index.htm juanita > > I am hoping someone can help me with something. Greetings, I am hoping someone can help me with something. An ancestor of mine has on his tombstone ³Co. A 66 ILLS INF² which I am translating as Company A 66th Illinois Infantry. Can anyone help me with that? The only thing I'm not sure of is the ILLS. Is there a source online or in print that has grave marker abbreviations translated in it? Thank you! Wendy Boughner Whipple
I was finally able to get back to the list, with Bunny's help. I have a little problem that maybe one of you can either help me with or send me in the right direction. My husband's maternal great grandfather was Charlie Priest and we have been having a heck of a time trying to find him. Since I can't seem to find anything about his birth, I'm hoping that I can get some information in his obituary. He died in Seward, Nebraska on Oct. 30, 1899. He was drug (dragged?) by a horse and killed. I don't know how common such a thing was then but surely there must've been some kind of write-up in the newspapers. I found several Priests in the area in the 'Nebraska Nugget' but no mention of Charlie. Does anyone know where I could find some info? Thanks for your help and I missed you guys! Rose
