Fort Fairfield was a major intake area early in this century, the two other major ports would have been Fort Kent and Van Buren with Houlton a maybe. I don't know if any records exists for these ports but the libraries in these towns would be able to steer you in the right direct as would the Family History Center in Caribou, Maine.
