    3. Hello all: Regarding early Howard family, I am looking for a Joseph Howard who was a 'physicist', as he is listed in old North Carolina records. This could and probably does mean doctor of physics which is a medical doctor, I think. This Mr. Howard was in Cumberland County, North Carolina......in Cross Creek, in approx 1760 fwd. I have reason to think some of my ancestors (REIDS, MCKAYS, etc) may have come down from N.B. into the colonies. They would have come from Scotland originally. My Dr. Thomas McDonald Reid was also a doctor in Cross Creek at that time. He was a loyalist and is found in the records as having a title to Deer Island at one time. If anyone has any information about any of these people, I would certainly appreciate it.
