As for the children, if you havent already done so, it would be best to consult the 1900 census for Cary, Maine and both the 1850 and 1860 Washington County enumerations. Your estimate of at least two children is likely an understatement. With two births that far apart, I would venture that there would be upwards of 10 to 12 births (live or otherwise) and maybe more.
