Further to the reunion in June 2008 in Remsheg (Wallace), N.S. I have an old book published by the Government of Nova Scotia, year of publication not mentioned, but in regards to Wallace, N.S. it has the following, also note the spelling of Remsheg. On Highway Route 6 "Sunrise Trail" (Amherst to New Glasgow). 41 miles from Amherst. Station on the Oxford Junction branch of the Canadain National Railway. WALLACE Wallace with its magnificent outlook over the blue waters of the Northumberland Strait, has a truly delightful situation. The district is noted for the valuable sandstone present tdhere in large quantities. This stone which is olive or greenish-grey and blue in colour has been quarried for more than one hundred years and has been used for many buildings in Quebec, Ontario and the Maritime Provinces. The beautiful Province House at Halifax was build of this material. The new Parliament Buildings and the Victoria Museum at Ottawa were also build partly of this sandstone and trimmed with the blue variety which lends itself well to carved work. The stone has also been shipped to New York, Boston and providence. Shipping facilities are good both by water and rail. Wallace was settled by Loyalists from the old Colony of New York who in 1784 soiugfh refuge at this place after the Revolution. In 1810 Alexander Stewart, for many years representative of Cumberland County in the Legislature, had the original name "RAMSHAG" changed to Wallace, in honour of Hon.Michael Wallace, Provincial Treasurer.
