Hi Diane & Gerry, I don't know how much help this is going to be as I'm fairly low on the learning curve of things military myself but I happen to know that there was a sort of diary kept by regular military units in times of peace - at least after the Gt War. The records are called "Part II Orders" (the II being a roman 2.) These were a 'page per day" records of significant events - if there were any, including people joining. people leaving, people sick and people "in trouble." The place to start looking for these would be the regimental / battalion records office / museum. A repeat word of caution. The ones I've seen were for the 1920's period and they were for a 'regular" unit - not a militia unit. I hope this isn't a red herring. Malcolm Archive CD Books Canada Inc.
