    3. Hi List, Ancestry.com used to have an agreement with the LDS Church and their Family History Centres whereby all of Ancestry's databases were free at each Centre. As of April 1st, 2007, Ancestry withdrew most of their databases from all Centres. There are just a few databases left that are unlocked but it's unsure for how much longer. Also, there is a small library in Connecticut, The Godfrey Memorial Library, which allowed anyone, anywhere to obtain a membership which gave them access to all of Heritage Quest's databases. As of April 1, 2007, Heritage Quest also would not allow the Library to renew their contract. This is portion of what appears on the Library's website: http://www.godfrey.org On behalf of our valued Scholars we have taken it upon ourselves to assemble a list of libraries across the country that provide remote or home access to Heritage Quest online with a local public library card. This list will be updated periodically. If you would like a list of libraries in your state, please contact us by e-mail or by telephone, and we will be happy to provide that list to you. I understand that some Genealogy Societies also offer the same type of benefits with membership. Also, on another positive note, the LDS Church is busily digitizing all of their films that have been stored in the mountains - a lot of which are available at the main Family History Library in Salt Lake City - censuses, parish registers, family histories... just about whatever appears on their online library catalogue (a few might not because of copyright) will be digitized and available online. It is a huge undertaking which has been going on for the past 5-6 years. Release date is unknown. Ancestry.com has a new database titled Acadia French Catholic Church Records (Drouin Colllection) 1670-1946 which are the St Pierre Parish Registers, Cocagne, Kent Co, NB. It is available free for 3 days. You have to subscribe but only name and email address - no credit card. I got into the database by just typing in the database's name and clicking 'search'. There is no index at the moment but they are being worked on. The docs are very clear and easy to read... so far... and it's great for brushing up on the French or Latin. Shirley
