My response: it's hard to formally let people know it's full of holes because, just as these people who originated the information have no BMD information to prove what they have stated, I have no BMD information to refute it in many cases. In one case, I know the source quoted copied something from an LDS CD which I have also seen but there is absolutely no evidence (BMD information) available to connect this individual to the parents named; the coincidence of a person with a very common name being born in the same country at approximately the same date as another person with this same name does not constitute proof of his parents names IMHO. Just as an example, not someone mentioned on this site, but one of my great grandmothers has been reported as being born in: Virginia, West Virginia, Caribou ME, and the Irish Free State--until I find a birth record, I'm not believing any of it and I have her death certificate, census records etc. -- polly shaw
One more reason to be willing to pay for birth AND baptismal records.
