Hi Diane; As far as I know, I am not related to Gavin Whitney. From what you tell me, he may come from a group of Whitneys from around the Miramichi. These folks have been a problem for Whitney genealogists for a long time as they are descendants of Ebenezer Whitney and no one has been able to link him to the other main Whitney lines in North America. I am linked to them by marriage but, so far, not by birth. At the moment, there is a move afoot to have DNA testing settle the question. Rattle my cage in a couple of months and I may be able to answer your question.
