Would SKS have any information re STOCKTON family who may have lived in Petiticodiac area? I've found info that Vaughn Gerald HANNINGTON s/o William & Ella HANNINGTON was taken in by a STOCKTON family in the early 1900s. It seems they may have had a general store. Assistance would be greatly appreciated. Debby Brown-Warren
Hi, I suspect it might be the family of Sterling Leander Stockton (b. 9 Nov 1858; d. 1922) and Ella May Pearce (b. 2 Apr 1858; d. 1 Mar 1946). He was a storekeeper in Petitcodiac. They had 3 children: Lee Blair (1887-1963); Ceta Margaret (1889-1982); and Eva Elsie (1893-1929). I believe there was a granddaughter married to a Welton in Queens Co., NB (now deceased, I think). Ceta was never married, but I think Lee and Eva were. Do you have any other information relating to this Stockton family? They are distanct relatives. John, Unfortunately I have no information other than what I put in my posting. Vaughn Gerald HANNINGTON's daughter has been in contact with me and was wondering if I could help her find out info on the STOCKTON family. She has no Christian names. All that she knows is that her father's parents, William & Ella HANNINGTON had gone to the US and Vaughn was living with my great grandparents, Jeremiah & Bertha HANNINGTON on their farm. The story goes that one day Mrs. Stockton was visiting at the farm and found Vaughn crying in the barn, he was not happy living on the farm. Mrs. Stockton got permission from Bertha to take Vaughn to live with the STOCKTON family. All that his daughter knows is that her father spoke very fondly of the family who ran a general store in what she thinks was Petiticodiac. He was very happy living with the family. I found Vaughn living with his grandparents (Jeremiah & Bertha Hannington) in the 1911 Cdn Census, perhaps it was after this that he went to live with the STOCKTONs.
