This is what I found on Canadian Soldiers of WWI database: Name: Frederick Douthwright Residence: Haverhill, Massachusetts Birth Date: 27 Mar 1883 Birth Location: Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada (Monckton in orig. record) Relative: Elizabeth Douthwright Relationship: Mother Regiment Number: 2013261 Resided at time, 68 Becker Street, Haverhill, MA His mother, at that time, resided at 32 Plain Street, Taunton, MA He was listed as a railway worker. His signature was simply "Fred Douthwright". He registered on 11-Jun-1918 at Boston, MA. ANother, of the same name, b.22-Jul-1896, Moncton, was s/o Chandler Douthwright. That "Fred" was Fred Archibald Douthwright. This would indicate, based on Elizabeth's obituary, that she arrived earlier than 17 years prior to her death in 1941.
