I'm not working on this family, but I checked Peter Toner's book on Irish-born on the 1851 NB census. At times, he indicates where they were from in Ireland, but he doesn't have any Laverty. Could the following be related? Name arr age Religion census origin Lafferty George 1826 55 Pres Woodstock ------ Toner has 9 Laffertys in all. Margaret age 40 in Sydney Ward, Saint John, was from Co. Fermanagh. None of the others have their Irish origin shown.
