    3. I was reading with interest in yesterday's Transcript about the settlers who established Londonderry, NB in 1818. My ancestor, James M. McQuin, arrived that same year from Londonderry and settled in the Miramichi. I believe the John and Thomas McQuin who settled in the Chatham area were probably his brothers. I wonder if there is a connection to the settlers in Londonderry, NB? I also would like to know if anyone has info on the ancestors of the Penobsquis area McQuinn's? (John McQuinn m. Elizabeth Jordan of Jordan Mountain) Thank you, Judy McQuinn

    3. I read the same article and wondered if anyone knows the story of why they came in 1818? It might give me some clues about my pioneers who came in 1831 and 1838 Beverley On Fri, Jul 24, 2009 at 12:35 AM, Judy <[email protected]> wrote: > I was reading with interest in yesterday's Transcript about the settlers > who established Londonderry, NB in 1818. 3. Hi Judy, I did a check of what I have on the settlers of Londonderry,Kings Co.,NB and there is no mention of a McQuin/McQuinn at all. At that period of immigration - settlers seeking the free land - the Irish arrived in Saint John and the Bay of Chaleur area. I would imagine what determined where they landed would be the deals the ships' owners had made with various lumber companies for whom they transported lumber back to Ireland on the return voyages. I hope this helps narrow down your search.
