In the book, Loyalist Gorhams of the St. John River Valley, by Dorie Gorham, pub'd about 1995, there is a photograph of Nathaniel Gorham, taken about 1890, with a little girl who is called his granddaughter, Frances Stocker. The girl looks to be about 4 to 6 years old, so I'm guessing she was born around 1884. I have delved into all of Nathaniel Gorham's children that I know of and not found any daughter who married a Stocker, nor a son who had a daughter named Frances, born around 1884, who might have grown up to marry a Stocker later on. The Nathaniel Gorham that I am referring to was born 1834, son of Samuel Gorham & Fannie (Perkins) Gorham, and died in 1917. He was married to Charlotte Amanda Whelpley. What am I missing here? Would anyone know how this Nathaniel Gorham came to have a grandchild named Frances Stocker? Thanks in advance. Carol Norman [email protected]
