    3. There is a John Crab listed in the "Return of the Number of Loyalists gone to Saint John's River in Nova Scotia. He is listed in the Company of John O'Blenus and William Secord. Unfortunately that particular Company does not list the number of people in the Company, so the three names are all that exist. In her list of New Brunswick Loyalists: John Crabb, 2nd Lt Co. 29 of Duchess Co, NY whose first grant was P565 (I think that's in Saint John) and a subsequent grant in Long Reach, Kings Co. John Crabb, Jr of Duchess Co. NY whose first grant was P647 and a subsequent grant in Kings Co. Stephen Crabb of Duchess Co. NY whose first grant was P646 and a subsequent grant in Gagetown. James Crabb of the 3rd New Jersey Volunteers whose first grant was P465; no subsequent grant. John Gigge (Guiggey) of the Loyal American Regiment who was granted land in Kings Co. 3. Thank you to one and all... these records are all great. John Giggey appears to be the elusive one. We have him in the land petitions, etc. but not until later years and I notice that even in the information just sent, there is nothing that makes reference to earlier records. For example, John Giggey received his Grant in 1809 (unless there are Grants which are missing??) and John Crabb received his Grant in 1785. It's all appreciated. 3. Although I live in Ontario, I have researched the early original land records in the court house in Kings Co. for my ancestral Smith family. By doing that I was able to prove that Elizabeth Wright was not always correct in her research/conclusions and this cleared off a huge brick wall for me. Perhaps someone from the Kings Co Historical Society would have kindly a look at the land records books for your Giggey (a family to whom I;m also related)? The books are readily available at the court house and easy to use. As always, original, primary research clearly clarifies many issues. Bev On Thu, Sep 3, 2009 at 2:51 PM, S. 3. Hi Shirley, Thought there might be a possibility of him buying property before he received a grant. However, I can tell you there are no mentions of any Giggeys in the Kings County Land Registry books until Book I-1 in the spring of 1803 when John Giggy is mentioned as having lands adjacent to lot #9, Brandy Point on Grand Bay in the Parish of Westfield. The lot in question was being sold by William Hayter of Saint John and John Giggy was only mentioned as having land bounding on the lot being sold. The next Giggy mention is William Giggy buying half of lot #21 on the west side of the Long Reach in the Parish of Westfield from Lawrence Neal on 8 Jan . 1816 (Register M-1) William later sold this half lot on 18 June 1823 to John Sharp (Register Q-1). John Giggy's property at Grand Bay was mentioned again as a bounding property in a sale of Nov. 1819. Apparently John Giggy was on hand in Westfield Parish by 1803 - possibly living on a lot he was "improving" in hopes of receiving a grant or possibly leasing from someone else?? All I can offer you for now.. Regards, John ----- Original Message ----- From: "S.
