I will correct the information on the war memorial as soon as I read the obits; I am very confident I have it right. yes the elderly grandparents raised him yet his perants were alive. Whether too ill, poor or something else is a mystery. TB was common then so perhaps they were incapacitated. The family arrived in Saint John on the Sidonia in 1874 from Scotland ( Thanks to Daniel Johnson) I ve just asked someone to check the Archives for obits but if they cannot; I'll try your suggestions. One time somebody gave me a simple look up as a random act that opened the floodgates to my irish family. I dont want to overuse it; it a fabulous resource.
