Greetings: The memorial service to remember those who served at Pennfield Ridge Air Station and A-30 C.I.T.C. (Camp Utopia) is scheduled for September 27th. Among those being honoured are the seventy (70) airmen and six (6) civilians killed at the Air Station and six (6) army personnel killed at A-30 C.I.T.C. (Camp Utopia). The "Pennfield Parish Military Historical Society", which is hosting the memorial service, is "a non-profit, charitable organization". The memorial service will be held at the Provincial Park, Pennfield Ridge from 2-3 pm. The on-site service is being assisted by the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #40) with the 250 RCAF (Saint John) Wing providing the colour party. The reception service, as of June 11h, has been moved to a larger facility and now will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #40), St. George. Past and current members of the military have been invited to attend the ceremony as well as representatives from the local, provincial and federal governments. Also family members of those killed at the two former Charlotte County military bases have been invited to attend the service as well. PPMHS will have a collection of artifacts (photographs, maps, flags, books, military records, etc.) on display at the reception service. These artifacts help to tell the rich and colorful history of the Pennfield Ridge Air Station and A-30 C.I.T.C. (Camp Utopia). Anyone with comments and/or suggestions please feel to contact us.
