Our Thomas WILKINS & Jerusha CHURCHILL married in York County NB 3 Oct 1804. Thomas is reportedly the son of George WILKINS & grandson of Peter WILKINS. Jerusha is reportedly the daughter of a seaman and of Betty FOSTER CHURCHILL. The marriage record is recorded in York County General Sessions minute book as follows: "I certify that Thomas WILKINS of the Parish of Kingsclear was by me married to Gerusha CHURCHILL of the same place on the third day of October one thousand eight hundred and four by Virtue of a licence obtained from the Hon. Gabriel Ludlow President of His Majesty's Council dated the second day of October one thousand Eight hundred and four", Samuel Clopper, Justice of the Peace. According to 1st person oral history ... a daughter, Hannah WILKINS JOSLY states that her mother was also called Josie..... she is recorded as Jerusha in the census records however. Hannah states that Jerusha (Josie) CHURCHILL'S father was an English sailor who settled in New Brunswick and married Betty FOSTER , an American lady of Boston. She further states that Thomas WILKINSwas born 1782 in Long Island, he was the son of George WILKINS and the grandson of Peter WILKINS. Peter WILKINS lost his first wife and 2 children when they were killed by the indians in the state of Georgia. Peter's 2nd wife was the mother of George...her name is not give.
