Hi Pat, With such an early date in New Brunswick, it sounds like they could have been Loyalists. I have not found a Betty FOSTER but I found the following family with "similar" names and places. First Families of New Brunswick. http://www.nbgs.ca/firstfamilies/FAMILY-C-2006.pdf What's also interesting this record is that it says that a couple of Jerusha's brothers went to Ontario. * CHURCHILL: Nathaniel Churchill Sr*. born 29 Mar 1748 at Yarmouth, NS, died 8 Dec 1820 at Fredericton, s/o *Lemuel Churchill *and *Lydia Sylvester* : m. (1st) 24 Dec 1770 *Elizabeth Rider*, m. (2nd) 20 Nov 1800 *Eleanor Metcalf*, m. (3rd) 6 Jan 1814 *Elizabeth Green*: settled at Gagetown, Queens County: Children of first wife: 1) *Betsey Churchill *b. 1 Nov 1771: 2) *Nathaniel Churchill Jr. *m. *Eunice Kinney*: 2) *Lemuel Churchill *b. 22 Mar 1776: went to Ontario in 1831 with brother: 3) *Lydia Churchill *born 7 Sep 1778: 4) *Bartlett Churchill *born 7 Jan 1781: 5) *Hannah Churchill *born 14 Feb 1783: 6) *Stephen Churchill *born 22 Dec 1785: 7) *Jerusha Churchill *born 23 Apr 1787: 8) *Benjamin Churchill *born 4 Feb 1790 in Yarmouth, NS, died 29 Dec 1871, m. 15 Jul 1813 at Kingsclear, *Elizabeth Everett *b. 16 Feb 1793 at Kingsclear, York County, d. 2 Aug 1879, d/o *Thomas Everett *and *Mary Wiggins *: settled at Jacksontown in Wakefield Parish, Carleton County: they had issue: 9) *Mary Churchill *born 25 May 1793: Children of third wife: 10) *Matilda Churchill *born 17 Dec 1814, married *Mr. Estey*: 11) *Fanny Churchill *b. 3 May 1816, married *Mr. Kitchen*: 12*) John Mulbury Churchill *b. 3 Jan 1818, died in infancy: 13) *William Churchill *born on 4 Jul 1819, died in infancy. Sources: *MC1/Chuchill*, 25 pages: file contains excerpts from *The Churchill Family in America *1902 by G.A. and N.W. Churchill: see *MC80/1397 *Daniel F. Johnson’s *New Brunswick lineages*, pages 193-194: see also *MC80/2642 * Wanda A. Rodney’s *The Esteys*, Vol 1, page 27. What I find interesting about this family, besides the names, is that the father, Nathaniel, died in Fredericton, York Co. - & York is where Jerusha was married.... plus this Jerusha Churchill had 2 brothers who went to Ontario which is where she went to as well. These records also appear on WorldConnect http://wc.rootsweb.com and the submitters names & email addresses are also shown. Even though none of them have Jerusha's spouse, that doesn't mean that they don't have this information in their records somewhere. Hopefully, this isn't stearing you in the wrong direction but they may be worth looking at and finding out more about. I would also check the New Brunswick Archives website (which is down at the moment) - if you haven't already - on the Vital Stats of NB Newspapers & early Land Petitions & Grants for your people.
