    3. HI List: Found in the Toronto Star Dec 14 2010 CATHERINE ANNE-MARIE BAXTER September 10, 1919 - December 12, 2010 Passed away after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. Catherine was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Harold Baxter and by three of her daughters: Anne-Marie, Elizabeth, and Theresa. Loving mother of Cecilia (Gordon Chaytors) and Mary-Anne (Gregory McGuire). She was the wonderful grandmother of Natasha and Zoƫ Chaytors and step- grandmother of Denise and Michaela McGuire. 'Auntie Kay' will be fondly remembered by her many godchildren, nieces and nephews as well as her Baxter sisters and brothers- in-law. Catherine was born in a small Acadian Village in New Brunswick. She was educated in a one-room schoolhouse by her mother, who was the only teacher. She was predeceased by her parents, Willie and Irene Leger and by her siblings, Bertha, Anne-Marie, Pamphile and Joseph. During World War II Catherine moved to Ontario to work in an aircraft factory in Malton. She married Harold and settled in Toronto. Together they built their beautiful home, where Catherine lived for 55 years. They were founding members of St. Jude's Parish in Weston. Catherine was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved to knit and sew and many family members and friends were happy recipients of her work. She greatly enjoyed entertaining playing cribbage, bridge and euchre. Catherine was passionate about her Blue Jays, curling, reading and watching mystery stories. She enjoyed 30 years of cottage life at Purdy Lake as well as yearly trips home to New Brunswick. But most of all she loved visiting with her two granddaughters whether at home in Weston or in Alberta. Catherine was a woman of great inner strength and faith who touched many. Many thanks to Doctors J. Rodgerson, M.T. Cheung, J. Wilson, and A. Boszko, the homecare nurses, PCWs, and Greenview Lodge staff. Family and friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, on Wednesday, December 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1300 Leslie Street. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill.
