Greetings, This update is dedicated to LAW Jessie Nason (14 November); G/C R.D. (Joe) Schultz, DFC and bar (11 November) and F/L V.A. (Vern) Williams, DFC (7 December 2010). Jessie was stationed at RCAF Station, Pennfield Ridge from 1944-1945 and was an active participant in the "Pennfield Ridge War Memorial Service" since its inception in 2006. Joe Schultz, although never stationed at "the Ridge", was one of the leading Canadian aces of World War II and was one of only 218 RCAF airmen to receive the DFC and bar. Schultz served with the 410 (City of Saint John) Squadron along with his Navigator, F/L V.A. (Vern) Williams from Hamilton, ON. Vern was part of Air Observers Course No.29B at No.2 ANS, Pennfield Ridge and upon completion of the course was granted a commission. "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings..." The Pennfield Parish website has been updated once again.
