I have found 2 grave with the same information one is in Canada and one in Calais Maine.. they have to do with Paul ROBINSON born in 1896 died in Canada says 1937 at St. Stephen Cem. and in Calais say 1941. how can I find out who is buried there.. one Canada has stone and in book . however Calais is on a rock with name. Parents for him were Joseph M Robinson and Clara E. Connell. The family lived in both towns.. Is Calais just a reminder? Can anyone help? thank you mrs. Michelle Foley

Hi Michelle, That happens quite often. Sometimes the stone is laid long after the death and sometimes mistakenly thought to have been the burial place. I couldn't find a death record for him on the NB Archives website and by 1937, I think the records were pretty consistant. And for sure the gravestones are for the same person and not just 2 men with the same name and similar birth years?? There appear to have been a number of Paul Robinsons in Maine with similar birth years. OR he may have died in NB and buried in Maine - or vice versa OR an error on the gravestone - not that uncommon. Ancestry shows a birth record for a Paul C. Robinson b. 19 Mar 1896 Calais ME; parents- Joseph & Clara E. Then on 1900 Calais census, Paul Robinsin b. Jan 1896 - mother Clara E. Robinson - so I am assuming same Paul but is it your Paul? You could call the Calais Town Clerks office and have them do a check on his death record for the years 1937-1941 and see what they show.
