Hi Betty, I just took a look at the birth records - there are 2 - one an original county birth and the other a late birth registration - for John Howard Harris's brother, Frederick Burton Harris, and it shows the last name of the mother to be ROWAN (found on New Brunswick Archives website & familysearch.org).
