Hello, For several reasons, I have not posted on this List for 2-3 years. But, I posted about my ancestor, Calvin KIDDER, on the List for at least 6 yrs. before that. He came from NH ~1784, probably, as an 18-yr-old following a HITCHINGS family. Nothing is known about Calvin for about 15 yrs., until he marries in N.B. to Mercy GREENLAW during the summer of 1798. * The only child known about is their son, Joseph "Calvin" KIDDER, born Jan. 29, 1799. Unfortunately, Calvin died in a boating accident - one week later ! There is information about all of this in the archives of the List. Mercy remarried to Ambrose BATES and had 10 more children. The family continued to live in what is now St. Stephen, NB. ~1830, as a twice-widowed mother, she and "Calvin" moved over to Calais, ME, and Calvin married there ~1832 to Mary WILKINS. They had 6 children survive childhood. I am descended from their son, Joseph KIDDER. When Joseph returned from fighting in the Civil War, he married his cousin, Clarissa WILKINS. They lived in Princeton, ME, and had 6 children. There is basic information on their 3 sons, and I have found descendants. But, there is very little information on their 3 daughters. Julia KIDDER married John ROBINSON and lived in the Waterville, ME, area. Ruth KIDDER married Alexander MOORE, and they lived in Houlton, ME. Marian "Aurelia" "Rilla" KIDDER married John Howard HARRIS in Houlton, ME, in 1901. It is my understanding that John H. HARRIS was born in New Brunswick in 1876. I don't think I have ever found out his parents' names. In the back of my memory, I think someone years ago found a possible family he came from, but I can't find it in the archives of the Lists. He moved over to Houlton, ME, in 1895, and married "Rilla" KIDDER there in 1901. One of my suspicions is that he had been married before, as their was a young child in Houlton with the HARRIS name. John and Rilla had a son, Fredrick HARRIS, in 1904 in Maine, then a daughter, Daisy HARRIS, in ME, and then a daughter, Margaret HARRIS in NB in 1906. It's probably than Margaret died young. Soon after the family was living with John and Julia ROBINSON in Maine. Unfortunately, John and Rilla seem to have separated ~1915, as the 1920 census has Rilla living in aa boarding house, and her teen-age daughter living with another family. I cannot find John HARRIS anywhere in Maine in 1920, and I cannot find their son, Fred HARRIS, in 1920 in Maine. I suspect that the 2 moved to New Brunswick. Rilla died of cancer in 1925, and another suspicion is that Daisy decided to go live with her father and brother - whereever they were. I was wondering if anyone knows of the family John Howard HARRIS came from during the 1870's. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) * Many researchers have never been able to find out which GREENLAW couple - this Mercy GREENLAW came from. She is not the Mary Mercy GREENLAW who married Nathaniel FENLASON. (on Lists for 10 yrs.; now an Admin for 9 Lists, including CAN-USA-Migration) (KIDDER is my main research of 20 yrs., so there is a lot of information on-line about my KIDDER line.) (I almost lost my husband one year ago when he was diagnosed with a "brain aneurysm." He was one of the lucky ones, because his did not burst. He had major "brain surgery" and spent 2 mos. in hospitals. So, I was not able to genealogy for this year.) (Please learn about aneurysms, as they can occur anywhere in the body, and they can kill.)
