Ed, You're probably going to have to provide a BIT more information on these two. Were they connected to each other? AROUND when might they have been born. Gurth is surely not a typical name, and in fact only found ONE Joseph with ANY Canadian connection, as follows: There was a Joseph Gurth son of Jean Gurth, who was b. Sep-1885, Quebec, residing in 1911 in Hochelaga, Quebec. His father, Jean, b. Dec-1838, Guinea. His mother (Filomene or similar) b. Mar-1839, Quebec. In the census, there appears to be some sort of accent following the h in Gurth. Not sure if maybe it was Gurti, or something more along those lines. As for Marie Kull, a very German name, much as Gurth may be German/Austrian/Swiss/etc. If you have ANY further information than just "around 1890-1900" that may help sort through the various differing spellings of both surnames. Just to add a bit if I may. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe the German writer. His last name was pronounce like Gurta or Gerta in English. The Quebec record with the accent after the H could be spelled as the writer heard it. In French the T sound would be th with an e accented after.
