Canadian Union Messenger Ottawa, Ontario Volume XXXIV No. 8 April 17, 1965 Page 15 Obituaries CORKHAM - Mrs. Nellie Corkham*, was born January 2, 1879, in Saint Martins, N.B., and died February 28, 1965, at the Saint John General hospital in Saint John, N.B. Her last few days were filled with much pain. But through it all she had a great faith in the Lord. In 1898 she married Mr. David A. Corkham who passed to his rest many years ago. Mr. Corkham was a licensed SDA minister and school teacher as well. Sister Corkham was a woman of great faith and mighty in the Scriptures. Words of comfort were spoken by the writer, who was assisted by a Baptist minister, Pastor Arthur Shepard, a nephew to Mrs. Corkham. Sister Corkham is laid to rest in the little Adventist burial grounds in Barnesville, N.B., to await the Lord's return and receive from Him the promise of eternal life. ELOSA N. MAXIM FROST * variant spelling of Corkum The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald May 28, 1914 Page 22 CORKHAM - David Andrew Corkham was born at East Chester, Nova Scotia, Sept. 4, 1854, and died May 2, 1914, at Scotts Bay, Nova Scotia. Brother Corkham was the first convert to present truth in the Maritime Provinces. His conversion was the result of the efforts of Elder J.R. Israel. He at once began to tell others of the message so dear to him, and a short time before his death counted seventy persons who had accepted the truth through his labors. His first wife, Sadie A. Simpson, died in 1891. In 1898, he was married to Nellie A. Brown, who, with their five children, is left to mourn. THOMAS ROWE
