    3. Hi Carla I believe George William Briggs and John Briggs are brothers; sons of John and Catherine Briggs of Wickham, Queens. John Briggs dies between 1861-1871 and Catherine remarries. Here is the 1851 and 1861 Census for them. I am not sure why their older children were not enumerated in 1861. But by 1871 nearly all the children are in Kings County; and scatter after that. 1851 Census, Wickham, hh59: John Briggs 34, birth; Catharine 32, birth; George 9; James Henry 7; Velenda (f) 5, Margarett Ann 3; Phebe Elizabeth 1; then Jane Thompson 28, lodger; Odbur Foster 1; Martin B. Mealy 48, Ire; teacher 1861 Census, Wickham hh10: John Briggs, 43, nat; Catherine 46, nat; Margaret, 13, Phebe 9, Mary 7, John 3. Hope this helps.
