Hi Shirley: Many thanks for the leads on this family. Now I have confirmation that they did go to Maine. I will check the 1900 census for the family group. I am searching for the marriage of William Hickey s/o Edward Hickey and Angelique Lapointe, and Bridget Toner who would have been married about 1862. The only birth date I have for William is 1843. Bridget was born 1929 according to the 1871 census and died 21 September 1873. Have not been able to find her parents. William married Marie LeGouffe d/o Pierre Felix LeGouffe and Marie Louise Comeau 16 June 1874 at Dalhousie, Restigouche. From information in the LeGouffe Genealogy book by Sister Blanche LeCouffe, they settled in the Nash Creek area. On the 1871 census William age 26 and Bridget age 40 were living at Durham, Restigouche along with children Dennis 12; Francis 8; William 6; Margaret 2 and Joseph 3/12 On the 1881 census William and Marie (Mary) were living with John Hickie and wife Margaret at Durham, Restigouche.along with children Dennis 18; Francis 15; Margaret 12; Mary E. 9; Edward 7; and William 2. I have been told that they left Canada after 1891 and moved to Maine. Apparently Alexander and Stephen died in the 1960's in Kennebec according to the U.S. Social Security Death Index. Any help in finding more about this family would be appreciated. Elenore Kamloops, B.C.

This long established, free-access National Site is proud to announce that there are more than 900 cemeteries completely photographed and onboard, amounting to over 375,000 searchable photographs. If you and/or your organization are interested in your local cemeteries going online, please contact us at: info@gravemarkers.ca - there are no cemeteries too big or too small...! * 5. A comprehensive "Tips and Hints" brochure will be sent to all interested folks....to help them get started photographing entire cemeteries. * * SUBSCRIBING TO THE WEBSITE UPDATES NEWSLETTER: ******************************************** * Don't miss future monthly updates. Are you tracing a female ancestor....? Cemeteries online have spousal duplicated photographs. This means a photo of a stone which also has the spouse's maiden name showing, is duplicated and when one searches using the onboard search engine, for a surname, the spouse's surname will be reported as a separate "search result". * 2. Over the years it has been apparent that this website was instrumental in breaking down researchers' brick walls. In fact many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard to physically observe the grave markers. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the contact information for the township, town or village cemetery "record holders". * 3. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means a volunteer has not photographed and sent us the cemetery photographs. Can you or some of your family or friends help out by photographing your local cemeteries....? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors to the website. If anyone has information regarding a family of Borden, who are black, originally from South Africa, I am interested in their Genealogy. Thank you for reading my request. Catt
It would probably be better to respond off list if you wish. I have several Whites in the book. Peter was witness for a Ferris in Waterborough in Queens Co and Ann was an administrator for a Scribner in Kingston, Kings Co. I have a Vincent who was in Queens and there are others. In response to Nelson, I have no Nelson but do have a Nielson who was a witness in St. John. I do see a Henry Nelson Nice as administrator on another will and Cornelius Nice's will. Hi John, These are my husband's people who came up from the US after War of Independence (The first Whites on our tree are Peter White and Mary Ann Worthly). His great-grandmother was Isobel/Anetta/Jeanette White, born in 1855 in Belleisle, daughter of Edward H. White and Matilda Jane Davis White, and wife to (1) Edward F. Couch and (2) George Frederick Fair. So far as I know, any of the Whites from Sussex and Queens County are pretty well his. I have no particular White in mind for the probate and too many names to start listing them here (you would be reading until next Tuesday or Wednesday!) so I'm just fishing. Any information would be appreciated. Lynn
Hello Patty. Do you have any probates in your book for the White family of St. John/Sussex County? Lynn BC, Canada
You can also try the NB Obits Mailing List http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/CAN/CAN-NB-OBITS.html and any one of the NB Message Boards http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.canada.newbrunswick/mb.ashx Good luck! I have a book that has information only up until 1835 on probates. Otherwise I had to pull in microfilm from my local Family History Library. Patty
Hi List, Marriage Bonds show 1871 Saint John as the record for the marriage of Benjamin Henry APPLEBY and first wife Mary Elizabeth NAPIER - looking for full date. Shirley
Not online. They would be in the newspaper microfilms at the Saint John Public Library and the Provincial Archives of NB, but you'd have to know the date. They used to have a great search engine on the Telegraph Journal site but they changed the program and now it only searches from the year 2000. :( The Brenan's Funeral Home records on the PANB site go up to 1960. There is a site called Obituary Daily Times which is searchable back to the early 1990's and it just lists the date and newspaper - if it is listed at all. It's at http://obits.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/obit.cgi I know how frustrating this is to find anything in that time range. Suzanne Carter
Is there somewhere where obits for the 1960’s in New Brunswick can be found? Thanks for any assistance.
For Saint John, the Saint John Free Public Library will do an obit search. http://www1.gnb.ca/0003/library.asp?Code=FM Right hand side - "send us a question" at the end of filling out the questionnaire click the box where you say "no" to sending it to another library. I would do an online search for the closest library to where your ancestor died and send in a request to them - they have the old films or they may tell you where to find it. The New Brunswick Archives http://archives.gnb.ca would probably have the year that you're looking for. Contact them and for a very low price, they would probably do the lookup for you. OR there is always random acts of genealogical kindness www.raogk.com where you can check to see if there is someone in the right county that is willing to do an obit search. They usually do it for free but once in a while will ask for a very low amount to cover their costs. Here's New Brunswick http://www.raogk.com/newbrunswick.htm just scroll down, find what you're looking for and click on the name. You can request 2 a month for each volunteer. For instance, there is someone in Charlotte Co. who is willing to do obits. Hope this helps. Shirley On Thu, Feb 17, 2011 at 4:36 PM, Suzanne Carter <splisson@nbnet.nb.ca>wrote: > Not online.
