Regional Search Engines. If you know what region in Canada your ancestors are buried, have you checked out the "Regional Search Engines"...? This is a new feature available on the front page of the website. * 2. Searching large cemeteries. All cemeteries with over 5,000 burials now have an exclusive search engine which will search only that cemetery...! Scroll down the individual cemetery page watching for the "search box" and supporting narrative. * 3. Tracing female ancestors. Cemeteries online have spousal duplicated photographs. This means a photo of a stone which also has the spouse's maiden name showing, is duplicated and when one searches using the onboard search engine, for a surname, the spouse's surname will be reported as a separate "search result". * 4. Cemetery records. Over the past 11 years this website has been instrumental in breaking down many researchers' brick walls. In addition, many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard, to personally and physically view the grave markers. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the contact information for the township, town or village cemetery "record holders". * 5. Missing cemeteries. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means we have not photographed the cemeteries in that area. Would you or some of your family or friends be interested in helping out by photographing your local cemeteries....? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors to the website. If you have any questions or suggestions to improve the *Canadian Gravemarker Gallery* please do not hesitate to send your comments, concerns or suggestions to us at: info@gravemarkers.ca * * ********************************************* * Best regards.....Murray P l e t s c h * Cdn Gravemarker Gallery - http://gravemarkers.ca * *********************************************

If so, Marie A. and Melina could have been born to a Francois or James Meunier. This surely indicates they weren't married until after the 1901 census took place, or at least were not "openly" married until after the enumeration? Simon Bastarache, widower of Buctouche, m. Marie Breau, widow, of Cocagne. They were married Cocagne St-Pierre, 18-Feb-1895, at Kent Co, NB. She was widow of "Simeon" Meunier. Simon's first wife awas Rosalie Daigle. Simeon Meunier m. Marie BRAULT, Cocagne St-Pierre, 08-Jan-1882, he was son of Joseph Meunier and Philomene ?Mussarolle? ?Neussarolle? she was d/o Charles Brault and Marguerite Bourque of "this parish". The Meuniers were of St. Marie parish. Simeon MIGHT be the one b. @1843, who was first married to a "Judul"... (MUNNIER in 1881). So, perhaps some more research, or finding of some supporting evidence on the Simeon Meunier connection. The given name of the father, on Marie Meunier's marriage record to Cyrille is difficult to make out because of the page bend. Surely her mother was Marie on that record, anyway. > To all Listers, > > > I have to0 start some where,I am looking for the marriage > and parents of a Cyril Leblanc & Mariann Meonier. > They had a child born In Madison Maine a Carinne Mary Leblanc > b: Aug 9, 1917 > > Thank You in advance, > Edward Mumley > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > List Announcements can be found at > http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbcharlo/nblistann.htm > List home page at: > http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/CAN/NewBrunswick.html > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NEWBRUNSWICK-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > ------------------------ Jared "Jed" Handspicker jedh@jedh.com "If you think you've lost your mind, then you must have found it again, else you'd have no idea you'd lost it in the first place." - JWH

    3. Hi Jared Thanks for your reply. There were two Aube brothers who came to New Brunswick from St. Gervais, Bellechase, Q.C. They were Augustin and Michel sons of Jean Baptiste & Marie Anne Pouliot. They definitely used the name Aube on their arrival. My guess, and I have yet to prove it, is that Augustin Aube who married Marie Sara Boudreau 1819 in Bathurst, had a daughter Euphrosine who married Peter Lavigne Dec 24, 1842 in Bathurst. I think their children went on to use both names of Lavigne and Aube. What are your thought on this? I believe the 2nd one is more likely, based on how many other surnames in Quebec area are found with "dit Lavigne" and the "dit Aube" sees rarer usage. Perhaps, when the earlier bunch left Quebec for New Brunswick, it was a matter of dropping one or the other. The same thing happened in Quebec, as the earlier spellings still used the "dit", but in more current surnames, it's apparently no longer used. Just a thought... I have had this problem before with the surname of Aube / Lavigne. I wonder if anyone knows when the name change occured and why? I believe the surname was originally Lavigne. Thanks again Dick Aubé

    3. To add further to whether George William is son of John or Abial. I found that the George, son of Abial, marries and relocates to Massachusetts. We can well track the George, son of John and Catherine, within New Brunswick. Sara Massachusetts Marriages, 1695-1910 Groom's Name: George W. 3. Hi Carla I believe George William Briggs and John Briggs are brothers; sons of John and Catherine Briggs of Wickham, Queens. John Briggs dies between 1861-1871 and Catherine remarries. Here is the 1851 and 1861 Census for them. I am not sure why their older children were not enumerated in 1861. But by 1871 nearly all the children are in Kings County; and scatter after that. 1851 Census, Wickham, hh59: John Briggs 34, birth; Catharine 32, birth; George 9; James Henry 7; Velenda (f) 5, Margarett Ann 3; Phebe Elizabeth 1; then Jane Thompson 28, lodger; Odbur Foster 1; Martin B. Mealy 48, Ire; teacher 1861 Census, Wickham hh10: John Briggs, 43, nat; Catherine 46, nat; Margaret, 13, Phebe 9, Mary 7, John 3. Hope this helps. 3. I am working on all Briggs in NB so I hope you will help me find their parents please help me here are a few for today ... will send more other time thank you George W Briggs b 14 sept 1843 Wickham, NB d 10 May 1915 Gordonsville, NB bur Gordonsville, NB m 14 Jan 1869 Margaret Ann White b 4 Aug 1852 Kent, NB d Sept 1919 Bristol, NB but Gordonsville, NB their 9 children Delila Viola, Anna "Jennie" Jane, Armenia "Minnie", David d young?, Alveretta Nettie, Adelaide, David, William George and Benjamin "Bennie" not sure george is son of Abiel briggs and Sarah Niles ??? ------- Unfortunately, over the years, George has been listed as one of either of the two in records, below. Son of Abial and Sarah or son of John and Catherine. In 1860 US Census for Monticello, Aroostook Co, ME: Abial Briggs 57 Sarah Briggs 53 Samuel Briggs 22 Sibbel Briggs 19 George Briggs 15 Anson Briggs 7 1851 Canada Census for Wickham, Queens Co: John Briggs, husband, 34 Catherine Briggs, wife, 32 George Briggs, son, 9 James Henry Briggs, son 7 Velenda Briggs, dau, 5 Margarett Ann Briggs, dau, 3 Phebe Elizabeth Briggs, dau 1 Jane Thompson, lodger, 28 Odbur Foster, illegitimate 1 Martin ?Barnaby?, lodger 48, school teacher Same family in 1861: John Briggs 43 Catherine Briggs 46 Margaret Briggs 13 Phebe Briggs 9 Mary Briggs 7 John Briggs 3 (he is listed as b. Mar-1858 in 1911 census, residing in Gordonsville (Carleton) IF this is how they are related, then John would be brother to George, but where IS George in 1861? He was but 15 or so, would have have been on his own, living with another family (Abial?) or dead? --------- John Briggs b 12 Mar 1860 d 1944 bur Gordonsville, NB , Sarah bell b 22 Aug 1866 d 1938 bur Gordonsville, NB thier 7 children Henry James, William "Willie", Julia, Mabel Agnes, Minnie Angeline, Myrtle and Gordon Andrew I know John is related to George W but how connect ? Ephraim Briggs b 1820 d 23 Mar 1887 bur lakeville Corner, NB m 23 Dec 1841 Sheffield, NB Hannah Ferguson (d/o George Ferguson abd Mary Cowperthwaite) b 30 Oct 1822 their 10 children Letitia, Margaret, James Emery, May Rosalia, George William, Ruth, Lorenzo Dow, Stella "Kate" Catherine, Herbert M and Bertha --------- Given date of birth, any association to parents without mention of them on his marriage or death record would be an assumption. The first Abiel, b. 1760, had a son Ephraim b. 1792, and one would suspect him as a most likely parent of the younger Ephraim, but that's not to rule out any of Ephraim's brother, James. His other brothers were too young, and there's nothing to indicate the elder Abiel had TWO sons of that name, even though some have made THAT association. ------------ James William Briggs b 1821 Wickham, NB d 1887 bur Temperance Vale, NB m 1st 13 Aug 1845 Queens Co, NB Mary Ann Akerley b 1827 d June 1855; m 2st <1857 Susannah Akerley b 1835 d 1927 Houton, ME by 1st marriage 5 children Emornada, Ann Levina, Sophia, Ruth ann and James William by 2nd marriage 8 children Elizabeth , Addington Harvey, Louantha Susan, George W , Ephraim "Dick" Richard, John A, Thomas Hanford and Mary Jane ------------- Would appear that James William has a fair chance of ending up as Ephraim (1820)'s brother. When all is said and done, it's these "middle" lines that are so often misconnected, due to the nature of information available. The "early" families are rather well-documented, then you have this bunch, with later ones being more easily connected via more complete census records. If only there were 1821 and 1831 census records that listed every family member!!! :-) ------------- I know they all above are related to Abial Briggs m Elizabeth Chase and probably his brother Ebenezer Briggs m Diadamy Chase (Elizabeth's sister) Thank you again Carla Cummings --------- Not much help, but I know many of us with lines that break in these decades "feel your pain"...
