    3. I found that some of the pages were off by about three. Check the top of the page on the screen to see if it is the same as what you wanted. For example, if you wanted page 221 and entered that you may find you are seeing page 218 so instead of 221 enter 224. -----Original Message----- From: newbrunswick-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:newbrunswick-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of ATEE42@aol.com Sent: August-19-11 11:05 AM To: newbrunswick@rootsweb.com Subject: [ NB ] Deed Indexes I was so grateful to get that web site about the deed indexes but I must be doing something terribly wrong. The index numbers and the volume numbers frequently don't match. In similar fashion, the image number and the PAGE number do not match. That said, the page numbers are typically off by three -- that is to say that if you are looking for page 660, the image # will be 663! (possibly 664.) 3. If you check the very beginning of the document for the number of pages that are not numbered or sometimes numbered with Roman Numerals, you can then add that number to the "page number" and come up with the proper "image number". Google Books and most others are going to be that way when there are non-numbered pages such as the "introduction" or "prologue" which are rarely numbered with the remainder of the volume. -- Jim Roaix 605 W Shawnee Street Tahlequah OK 74464 918-207-0093 jerx42@hughes.net http://web.me.com/jerx/Neolithic_Sculpture/About_the_Artist.html On 8/19/11 12:28 PM, "ATEE42@aol.com" <ATEE42@aol.com> wrote: >Hi Bonny, >Thank you so much for the tip. 1. [ NB ] Family tree program
    2. Sue Getson
    3. Hi First off I am not a computer person, so please I need some help. Over the past month my family tree program (version 5) I know very old program has been running extremely slow, when I first bring it up it takes sometimes 10 minutes to bring up the main page, then for the first little bit whenever I click from one page to another or try to insert a picture it says not responding. The newest thing is now when I try to insert a picture it says something like not enough disc space, or not formatted, I am not using any kind of a disc and my laptop does not have room for disc. I can copy a picture to a blank page on notepad or something like that. My laptop is four years old but runs quite quickly except when working with the family tree program, ususally after it is running for awhile it works better. I have been told to get a new computer but since the computer is running well for all other things could it be just the family tree program. Does the family tree program only have so much space and I have reached the maximum, or what? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, don't want to spend more money than I have to. Thank you Sue

Regional Search Engines. If you know what region in Canada your ancestors are buried, have you checked out the "Regional Search Engines"...? This is a new feature available on the front page of the website. * 2. Searching large cemeteries. All cemeteries with over 5,000 burials now have an exclusive search engine which will search only that cemetery...! Scroll down the individual cemetery page watching for the "search box" and supporting narrative. * 3. Tracing female ancestors. Cemeteries online have spousal duplicated photographs. This means a photo of a stone which also has the spouse's maiden name showing, is duplicated and when one searches using the onboard search engine, for a surname, the spouse's surname will be reported as a separate "search result". * 4. Cemetery records. Over the past 11 years this website has been instrumental in breaking down many researchers' brick walls. In addition, many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard, to personally and physically view the grave markers. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the contact information for the township, town or village cemetery "record holders". * 5. Missing cemeteries. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means we have not photographed the cemeteries in that area. Would you or some of your family or friends be interested in helping out by photographing your local cemeteries....? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors to the website. If you have any questions or suggestions to improve the *Canadian Gravemarker Gallery* please do not hesitate to send your comments, concerns or suggestions to us at: info@gravemarkers.ca * * ********************************************* * Best regards.....Murray P l e t s c h * Cdn Gravemarker Gallery - http://gravemarkers.ca * *********************************************

    3. Hi Michelle, That happens quite often. Sometimes the stone is laid long after the death and sometimes mistakenly thought to have been the burial place. I couldn't find a death record for him on the NB Archives website and by 1937, I think the records were pretty consistant. And for sure the gravestones are for the same person and not just 2 men with the same name and similar birth years?? There appear to have been a number of Paul Robinsons in Maine with similar birth years. OR he may have died in NB and buried in Maine - or vice versa OR an error on the gravestone - not that uncommon. Ancestry shows a birth record for a Paul C. Robinson b. 19 Mar 1896 Calais ME; parents- Joseph & Clara E. Then on 1900 Calais census, Paul Robinsin b. Jan 1896 - mother Clara E. Robinson - so I am assuming same Paul but is it your Paul? You could call the Calais Town Clerks office and have them do a check on his death record for the years 1937-1941 and see what they show. 3. I am trying to find the parents, marraige and death of John Doull. He and his wife Elizabeth (presumed Blaikie) had a son James Forbes Doull at West River, Nova Scotia on 10/2/1842. Where exactly is West River in the scheme of things? I am assuming that they had other children and I would also like to find the boat he (or they) arrived on. I have tried to find these questions myself but from here in Australia I seem to find blanks at every turn. James ran a successful Grocery business in New Glasgow with his first wife Christy McLellan. Hope that someone can help me get back into Scotland and link this big family into its Scottish family. Cheers from a cold Melbourne morning. Pat

    2. John Cordes
    3. Hi Pat, I'm not sure why this message is on the New Brunswick list -- seems one of the main Nova Scotia lists would be more appropriate. Have you looked at the NS (Nova Scotia) vital stats database at https://www.novascotiagenealogy.com/? Two marriages are listed for James F Doull, s/o John and Elizabeth. In both of these James is a widower, and in both it says he was born in New Glasgow, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. West River is also in Pictou County (try using Google Maps). The death certificate for James Forbes Doull, 1921, in New Glasgow, Pictou County does not give his place of birth, other than Nova Scotia. The informant is his son John Doull. James' mother is stated to be Elizabeth Blaikie on the death cert; she is also stated to be b. in NS but of course one can't always rely on statements like this. The 1881, 1891, and 1901 censuses all show a household headed by James; I don't immediately find him in 1911. The 1881 census has wife Christie and children John (2) and Jessie (6 months). Several more children in 1891, with wife Mary. The easy way to get at these census records is through Ancestry, but at least the 1881 and 1901 are freely available. Here is an extract from an old (circa 1916) collection of biographies of Nova Scotians. ================================================== One of the best known and successful barristers of New Glasgow, Pictou County is John Doull, a man who is deserving of the success he has attained in this exacting profession because he has worked persistently and honestly for it, and, being yet a young man, his chief life work is ahead of him. Mr. Doull was born November 1, 1878, in the city where he now resides. He is a son of James F. and Christy Ann (MacLellan) Doull, the father born in New Glasgow in 1840, and the mother in MacLellan's Brook, Pictou County. John Doull, the grandfather, was a native of Caithness, Scotland. Evan MacLellan, the maternal great grandfather, was one of the pioneer residents of MacLellan's Brook, Pictou County. Our subject's paternal grandfather immigrated from Scotland to Prince Edward Island, where he engaged in farming, but a number of years later returned to Scotland. He resided for a time in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, but returned from there to Prince Edward Island. His wife lived to be over ninety years of age. The father of our subject was a young man when he came to New Glasgow, and has engaged in the grocery business there continuously to the present time, enjoying a good trade all the while, keeping a well selected stock of staple and fancy groceries and dealing honestly with his customers. His is the "family grocery" of Prevost Street ================================================== Hope this helps, John Cordes Halifax, Nova Scotia On [2011-08-16 at 10:45pm] Pat Rawlings <jessie@satlink.com.au> wrote: > I am trying to find the parents, marraige and death of John > Doull.
