    3. Greetings, It is NOT a typo! PANB website says: "Index to Death Certificates for 1961. 4,800 records added." You can search the listing for anyone who died in the year 1961 in any country. However it just will not provide you with a "digitized image" as in the case of the 1921 death certificates. Regards, G. 1. Re: [ NB ] any hints on finding someone that you don't know their name
    2. Sue: Not sure how the system works in NB, but any fatal industrial accident would have been documented and reported to the provincial department of labour and its safety board. The closest I could find, and to where you might want to direct a query giving the name and date that you have is: communications@ws-ts.nb.ca Hopefully someone there can look it up for you, or direct you to the appropriate source. The provincial coroner's office might also be a useful place to check, although I'm not sure what the limitations on disclosure are...the files are a matter of public record. 3. Hi I am trying to help a relative find a person that was suppose to have died in a construction accident anywhere between March 1986 to about the end of 1988. She is trying to find out the name of her child's grandfather, she does not have a name so it making it very difficult to search. He had a son born on January 1, 1987 with the last name Barrieau. The stories about this person have been everything from died before the child was born up to two years after the child was born. The child was born in the Miramichi area but currently lives in the Saint John area. Receiving no help from the estranged family. Wanting information for medical reasons, need name to get further. Regional Search Engines. If you know what region in Canada your ancestors are buried, have you checked out the "Regional Search Engines"...? This is a new feature available on the front page of the website. * 2. Searching large cemeteries. All cemeteries with over 5,000 burials now have an exclusive search engine which will search only that cemetery...! Scroll down the individual cemetery page watching for the "search box" and supporting narrative. * 3. Tracing female ancestors. Cemeteries online have spousal duplicated photographs. This means a photo of a stone which also has the spouse's maiden name showing, is duplicated and when one searches using the onboard search engine, for a surname, the spouse's surname will be reported as a separate "search result". * 4. Cemetery records. Over the past 11 years this website has been instrumental in breaking down many researchers' brick walls. In addition, many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard, to personally and physically view the grave markers. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the contact information for the township, town or village cemetery "record holders". * 5. Missing cemeteries. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means we have not photographed the cemeteries in that area. Would you or some of your family or friends be interested in helping out by photographing your local cemeteries....? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors to the website. If you have any questions or suggestions to improve the *Canadian Gravemarker Gallery* please do not hesitate to send your comments, concerns or suggestions to us at: info@gravemarkers.ca * * ********************************************* * Best regards.....Murray P l e t s c h * Cdn Gravemarker Gallery - http://gravemarkers.ca * *********************************************

    3. Hi, Sue, I think you need to look at how much space is available on your hard drive. You can type hard drive free space into google and find out how to do that. It is different depending on whether you are using Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7. If you are adding pictures to FTM, that uses up a lot of space. You should be removing temporary internet files regularly and defragging your computer. You asked if FTM uses only a certain amount of space. I think that depends on what space is available on your hard drive and FTM space is NOT limited I know a person who has 45,000 names! I was running FTM on a 7 year old computer until recently. For help, ask a child or grandchild. If you don't have one, ask your friends who have computer. Your laptop should have a little door on the side for a CD or DVD. Most importantly be sure to back up all your FTM data immediately so that you don't lose all that hard work and research. I bought a new computer in May and had all my old files moved into it by a computer tech who came to my house. He also installed the latest version of FTM 2011. I am still learning to use that, and it is not as user friendly as my old version 16. Hope this helps. I think you will find it to be more user friendly and intuitive than FTM for Mac. As a happy Reunion customer for several years, I have found it to have a very powerful search engine and offers lots of bells and whistles for data input and reporting. As an aside, I will add that Reunion is the BEST piece of software coding I have ever seen in more than 35 years of building and using computer software. No hiccups, crashes or lost data -- it just works as advertised! 3. Since I have always been a Mac person, Reunion has been my companion for many years, without ever experiencing any problem whatsoever. Once you start using Reunion, you subscribe to "Reunion Forum" and friendly Reunion users work to solve all of your problems learning the software. When a rare problem comes up, Reunion asks that you send them your file and they work with it until it's right. They sold off the rights to their Windows version years ago, but the company that bought it has chosen not to continue making or supporting it. I suspect that it was the maker of another genealogy software (FTP?) that bought it to remove competition. Arnold is more than right ... He is right on ... 3. Excellent advice, Malcolm with which I totally agree. I am using FTM 2006 on a 7 year old computer (no probs) plus I use this computer in many other ways as well. Have recently purchased FTM 2011 for Mac for use on a different new Apple computer. Don't like the program nearly as much as the 2006 which I was very familiar with. Slowly learning my way around but I think FTM is getting too "techie" and not nearly as simple or user friendly. 3. Sue, I'm very much afraid that what I'm going to say may be misunderstood and cause you offence - in fact I almost didn't publish because of that. On the other hand not answering doesn't help you at all. So please bear in mind that I'm attempting to help you with your problem. If you don't like it, simply click "delete" and I will only have wasted my time. I do think, however, that you are not alone in having this sort of problem and I'm hoping that this might also help someone without your courage to publicly ask for help. I very much doubt if anyone can give you a "magic bullet" for you to fix your computer for yourself. From what you say I'd guess that your problem is not going to be too difficult to fix and is (basically) caused by your not knowing enough about your computer to keep it "serviced", organized, and updated enough for it to keep running efficiently for over four years with no TLC. Right now, what you need is some help from someone with such knowledge or, failing that, the services of a computer tech. The problem with using an unknown computer tech. is that there are a few good ones and then there are some very poor ones. Also many of the computer techs in stores are first and foremost trying to get you to buy something from them because they get commission on sales. Try asking around to see if anyone in your area can recommend someone, or look for someone who just does computer fixes, i.e., not attached to a store or, as a last resort, go to one of the big stores and ask them if their service techs get commission on what they sell. Keep in mind there is no reason why you shouldn't be served quite adequately by a four year old computer as long as it's still running - i.e., doing something like what you'd expect. The reason you are experiencing a problem with your FT program is probably that it uses a lot more memory in your computer than anything else you use does. This, in turn, makes you computer use more of your internal hard disk, and if it is already full . . . . . well, you can see where this is headed can't you? To specifics, YES you DO have a disk in your computer. Since the early 1980's all computers have had a built in hard disk and one of your problems may be that you have filled yours up. Since you are using a laptop it is difficult to put in a larger internal disk but a decent computer tech. can help you to buy an external disk and reorganize your files so you can use the computer with or without the external disk depending on what you want to do and on your usage habits. (Make sure he explains how you get access to both the internal AND the external disk!) Secondly, I'm guessing that you are using a PC running Windows of some sort. Windows accumulates all sorts of junk files over a period so it may be possible to recover some of the space on your original hard disk to keep you going for while. Again you need a little expertise to find and remove this junk. Lastly, and potentially most serious, you may have been infected with some sort of "malware**" and it is this which is stealing most of the processing power of your computer (quite apart from putting all your data at risk.) This can be checked and, if necessary fixed, quite easily if you had the expertise. (**Malware is the generic term for all types of virus, trojan, worm, keyboard listener, or whatever which is inhabiting your computer for all sorts of nefarious purposes.) So, as a follow-up, I strongly recommend you find a course on basic computer "care and feeding" at your local college, night school, library, or wherever, and get yourself sufficient knowledge to take care of the routine maintenance and upkeep, as well as being able to take a guess at what is causing the error messages your computer gives you.
