Does anyone in the Wakefield area of Carleton Co have a record of Abigail Britton, d/o Stephen Britton?: her death, marriage , family. Thanks a lot. Robert Davis bdavis@sympatico.ca
Freeman John Fowler was born in West Saint John 21 Dec 1893. His mother, Mrs. John Wellesley Fowler, was living at 53 Church Avenue in Fairville (now part of W. Saint John) when Freeman was killed in Belgium in November, 1917. The online record of his death indicates that his mother was Gonila Perry Fowler. Is this family on the 1901 or 1911 census? Was her name Gonila? Thank you, Bill
Marilyn: As a researcher of Nova Scotia railway history I am interested in any details you may have of the life of Eugene Wyman Cleveland (b. Claremont NS, 1857-1934) and his brother William Fitch Cleveland. I believe these two men were instrumental in the development of the "Cleveland" type steam locomotive that was used briefly on Canadian railways in the early 1900s. I have data from Automated Genealogy and Family Search, but nothing there indicates that Eugene, the leading principal in a Toronto firm with an Arthur Petersen, had any engineering gtraining. His obituary in the Vancouver Sun of 1934 does not give any helpful details either. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Hi Bill, am just new to this list I have been working on the Cleveland family(s) in Nova Scotia for many years, the branch you are looking at were missionaries who came from the U.S.A. to Halifax and then went to the Annapolis Valley and spread from there. Although my main interest is in the South Shore Family I have picked up quite a bit of information on the Valley family as well. Hello List, I am researching the Veterans of Guysborough County, NS. On my list is Private Lloyd W. Armsworthy who served with the Carleton & York, 'A' Company. He died January 1968, Fort McPherson, North West Territories. It is believed he was born in Guysborough County or is related to the Armsworthy family there. I came across his photo on the Internet (http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbcarlet/warphotos2h.htm) in a newspaper clipping. It says he was from New Brunswick. Does anyone know of this soldier? Where he was born and who his parents were? Thank you, Diana Diana Lynn Tibert Veterans of Guysborough County - Updated April 16, 2006 http://www.angelfire.com/folk/guysboroughvets/ <http://www.angelfire.com/folk/guysboroughvets/Hurst.html>
Dear Marilyn, I could not find William & Isabella in the 1851 Sunbury census. There's onlt one Morrow family, George and Elizabeth in Burton Parish. In 1871, Burton Parish, I found Isabella, widowed, age 45, with her sons William, age 14 and Robert, age 10. Courtesy of Dan Johnson's "New Brunswick Newspaper Vital Statistics"..... The New Brunswick Courier of April 19, 1862 reports the following: d. Portland (St. John), Thursday last, of consumption, William MORROW, age 32. Another issue reports their marriage in Portland, Saint John, Dec 11, 1849. It states both are from Portland. They may have lived in Saint John until William's death. Best of luck, Lisa Z
Trying to fit these "strays" into my tree. I'd appreciate contact from anyone connected with these families: I have James Morrow (c. 1816-1885) married Ann Cochran (1828-1885) Their children were: Margaret, Anna, Satira, James, Henry, John, Wilhelmina, and Mary. Two of the sisters were married to the same man, John Armstrong. First he married Satira in 1872 and had Maud and Satira. He subsequently married younger sister "Minnie" and had George Henry, Ernest, and William. He shows up in the 1901 census married to a Margaret, possibly (Robinson) Seely, as there are Seely stepchildren listed. John and Ann's son John Morrow married Martha Jane Walker and had a family of 7 girls and 3 boys at Cedar Camp, Kings Co. Many thanks. Marilyn in Vancouver
Thank you Lisa, that all fits. Now if I could only figure out who Williams' parents were! Would some kind soul with access to the census records for Sunbury Co. please look up Isabella (Garrow) Morrow and William Morrow? The couple were married in Portland, Saint John in 1849. Isabella was widowed by 1881, farming in Burton, Sunbury, with her sons Robert and William. Can't find them in 1901. Many thanks. Marilyn in Vancouver
