    3. Dear Darlene, I can help with Mary London. She was Ephraim Wheaton's second wife. They married August 20, 1812, in Greenwich, Kings County. Seth was not the son of Mary London. Four of the children of Ephraim and Mary (London) were baptised at Kingston on August 10, 1819. They were Hannah, Elizabeth, David and Mary Jane. A son James was born about 1825. Of these children, I have only found the track on Hannah, who married Andrew Shampier (Shampers, Shamper) in Belleisle Bay, Kings County, on Feb 19, 1835. Mary London was born about 1784, the daughter of John London and Hannah Ketchum (Ketcham). Hannah Ketchum was born Oct 31, 1756 - somewhere in the US. John London was born about 1755 in Little Egg Harbor, Burlington (now Ocean) County, New Jersey. John and his younger brother, Ralph came to New Brunswick as Loyalists. I descend from Ralph, born about 1760. Their father was also John London, and his wife's name was Elizabeth, but I don't know any more than that. Unlike his sons, John London the elder fought on the side of the Colonies during the Revolutionary War, and died in Little Egg Harbor between August and October of 1778. Best of Luck, Lisa Z

    1. [ NB ] Ephriam Wheaton - Mary London
    2. Hi all. Everyone has been very generous with helping me in past. I think I posted this a while ago, not sure. I ordered Ephriam Wheaton's will from PANB, and just got it today. One of Ephriam Wheaton's wives was Mary London. Ephriam was not from NB (Kings County?), but he traveled there in late 1700's. He had at least 2 wives, and many, many children. I have a Seth Wheaton, SR. who married Sarah Sears Ketchum in 1820's in Saint John. Seth is one of the sons of this Ephriam, but not sure which mother. I know "nothing" about the London family. Can anybody help me and fill me in on either Ephriam Wheaton, and/or anything about Mary London? birth, death, parents, children, etc... ? Thanks. 1. Re: [ NB ] Belleisle and Belleisle Creek, Kings County, NB
    2. John Elliott
    3. Hi, The name "Belleisle" creates all kinds of confusion for those not "of the area". In some old accounts and by many modern "outsiders" (e.g. people whose only real knowledge of the area is in relation to summer homes, etc.) "Belleisle" is applied indiscriminately in reference to almost any place in the vicinity of the shores of the Belleisle Bay. Older people with more local connections sometimes refer to such an extended area (i.e the Bay and its immediate shoreline) as "the Belleisle" in the same way that a river and its immediate environs might be referred to as "the Kennebecasis". To local people the name "Belleisle" without the definite article "the" is often used synonymously with Belleisle Creek. For example, in my family, "going to Belleisle" would be clearly understood to mean Belleisle Creek, while a trip to "the Belleisle" would mean a journey further downstream to some indefinite area along the shores of the Bay. This is all the more confusing in that Belleisle Creek is far enough upstream beyond the head of the Belleisle Bay to be completely separated (with the community of Springfield between) from the areas around the Bay which might be generally grouped together as "the Belleisle". If I am not mistaken, the homestead of the White family was above the head of the Belleisle Bay in the area known for many years by the community name of Springfield - not to be confused with the Parish of Springfield, which includes all of the aforementioned locations! In fact, the present community of Springfield (or at least a portion of it) was once known as White's Corner. This is all still well downstream from Belleisle Creek. Hope this helps a little - or maybe I've just muddied the waters even further.
