    2. Jared Handspicker
    3. Barb, If that's the case, you're likely to get just as much information from www.familysearch.org (if not more) and even the SSDI on Ancestry is free access (perhaps through rootsweb.com?). The "full obits" are only there if a registered member edits the information. For instance, if "John Smith" was born 25-Feb-1898, d. 04-Jan-1973, last known residence was East Oshkosh, Wisconsin, that's all the information they've "auto-loaded" from the SSDI. If a registered member is connected to that person or has historical information to add, they merely choose the Edit This Entry (I think) link. That allows the member to add/edit/etc, information on the listed individual. I can't see how they get away with calling it "Obits"... Should be SSDI info with member additions... or something more accurate! :-) Jared > I am a registered member > However I get nothing more on the obits than you do. 3. Many thanks John. Mary Jane Carson (nee Morrow) is one of my "strays" that I'm still trying to connect -- don't know who her parents were, but she is exactly the same generation as my Great Grandfather. I'm planning a drive out to the FH Centre, so it looks like it might be worth my while to go through the microfilm. Their next-door neighbours might provide a clue. Thanks again. 3. Thanks Donald - Mary Jane is one of my "stray" Morrows - she just appears in the Marriage Bonds, and then the mention in VSNBN that her husband was widowed. Looks like it will be worthwhile for me to go through the microfilms to see who they were living close to (in the remnants of the 1871 census for Portland), to see if I can nail down who her parents were. Sunny here today, and snowdrops out in my garden -- just enough to keep a person hanging on 'til spring! 3. Marilyn-- Your Jane is Jane Reid, d/o Daniel and of Mary Gallagher; she does appear in the 1851 census in Simonds parish with her parents and siblings ( and the name is misspelled Reed). I have a lot more on the Reids as they are one of my lines. (Daniel's sister was my gggrandmother). Daniel & Mary are buried in the Old Williamstown (Pioneer) Cemetery just several miles south of Centreville; I have a photo I took of the stone somewhere if you are interested. -- polly

    3. Gerry, Tried a direct e-mail, but wouldn't go through... the only info I could find on parents is at the LDS site, so not sure how well researched it is/was, but here's what is listed for parents of your Banford: LDS IGI indicates Bamford was s/o John Wesley Colpitts and Ann Pierce. "Bamford Hedley Colpitts" and that John W. later married Johannah S. Baxter (in 1851) He had married Ann Pierce on 11-Mar-1837, NB. He is listed (John W.) as son of Robert Colpitts, Jr. and Rachel Steeves. John Wesley b. @1813, Moncton, d. 30-Nov-1872. Jared > Who were the parents of Rev. Banford B. 3. Gerry, Daughters were: 1. Laura "Merilla" Colpitts m. Chester L. Seeley, 06-Jun-1923, Woodstock, Carleton - perhaps, earlier, she'd married W. P. Cochrane? After all, she married Chester JUST before she died, and her sister, Luella was not married until 1921, near as I can tell. 2. Alma Annie Colpitts m. Harry Dickens Reid, 31-Dec-1896, Carleton co. Again, if Harry died before 1927, perhaps Alma was the wife of Mr. Cochrane, later in life? 3. Lowella/Luella B. (Blanche?) m. William Byard McLeod, 15-Jun-1921, Woodstock, Carleton Co. No idea on W. P. Cochrane (see comments on Alma and Laua) Cross-checked 1881, 1901, and 1911 Census records, PANB Vital Records, and some LDS IGI records to end up with the above response. Jared P.S. If you want my "notes" on the above, drop me an e-mail at jedh@jedh.com and I'll send those on to you, as well. > Who were the parents of Rev. Banford B. Colpitts, born 1839, husband of > Sarah ?
