    1. [ NB ] [NB] MCCOACH
    2. Nancy Averill
    3. Hi, Does anyone have access to the St. John Presbyterian Church records in the 1860's? I am looking for any (birth, christening, death) information on the parents and siblings of: Ellen McCoach/McCouch born July 1846, Saint John, NB, they lived in Portland. She married William Henry McMaster 09/19/1866 at St. John Presbyterian Church, by James Bennet. Margaret McCoach is probably her sister as William McMaster was a co-signer. She married John McConnell 05/26/1869 by Rev. N. McKay in Portland Parish. She may have had a brother John, Francis or James. Any information would be greatly appreciated as this has been a brick wall for quite some time. Thank you, Nancy

    3. Karen, My BROWN data base primarily consists of my New Brunswick BROWNs so your husband's names below don't appear. However, I also looked in The Valley of Remsheg and while I did not find Edith Mary Broughton, I did find Bessie Broughton married to LawsonThompson. This line runs from the 2nd son, Abraham BROWN, of my 5th great grandfather, John BROWN. John came from Westchester NY, landed at Fort Cumberland in the summer/early fall of 1783, and received land grant in Remsheg (Wallace) in 1784. I descend from John's eldest son, John Jr., who about a year after the tragic death of his father and sister, left Wallace and settled in NB. Do you have any other names that you can throw my way, so we can see what we can find. I also have someone else who is connected to this family who I can run things by. Re the Remsheg Loyalists 225th Anniversary, what would Brian's connection be. We have people coming from US, across Canada and England and we haven't even done much in the line of promoting it. We've just touched base with some of the connections we've built up over the years. Just as anxious to hear back from you :-) Debby -----Original Message----- From: newbrunswick-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:newbrunswick-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Broughton24U@aol.com Sent: Friday, January 26, 2007 3:31 PM To: newbrunswick@rootsweb.com Subject: [ NB ] Browns of Westchester, NS Hi Debbie I saw your email on the site that mentions Browns from Westchester and Wallace, NS This could be interesting as that is where my husband comes from. Hi Laura, Laura Anderson is in the ss death index at Rootsweb and LDS. I think you just missed it. Eons is interesting though. I think what the other fellow said earlier is correct. It's the ss death index. They say on Eons that you can go back to 1899. If you type in John Moore died 1900 you will find a listing for him. (I never understood why such early deaths are in the ss death index, but they are. I went through many of the really early deaths one time - very interesting) The same John Moore is in the ss death index. 3. Hi Debby, My Browns are from Carleton County NB, and Maine. My grandmother was Josephine Hovey (nee Brown), daughter of George W. Brown and Almina M. McLean. George was the son of John Fowler Brown. The Browns lived back and forth between Massachusetts, Maine and New Brunswick in my tree. I haven't been able to focus much on the Browns as of yet, but if you think there is a link to you, I will send you the details I have. My BROWN family were primarily Westmorland County NB & Wallace NS; however, there were some who were scattered in New England. Jared and Barb, I just tested a couple of names in my tree that I had not been able to find in roots web or LDS. I found them on the "eons" site; For example: Laura Anderson (nee Brown) died 15 Feb 1967 in Manchester Maine. I found her on www.eons.com, but nothing on any other site. What do you think? Debra

    3. Barb, If that's the case, you're likely to get just as much information from www.familysearch.org (if not more) and even the SSDI on Ancestry is free access (perhaps through rootsweb.com?). The "full obits" are only there if a registered member edits the information. For instance, if "John Smith" was born 25-Feb-1898, d. 04-Jan-1973, last known residence was East Oshkosh, Wisconsin, that's all the information they've "auto-loaded" from the SSDI. If a registered member is connected to that person or has historical information to add, they merely choose the Edit This Entry (I think) link. That allows the member to add/edit/etc, information on the listed individual. I can't see how they get away with calling it "Obits"... 1. [ NB ] Campobello Mystery... who is this person??
    2. Heather Waddingham
    3. Hi List: If anyone knows WHO this lady was, please let me know... Taken from the Eastport Sential in November 1851 " A Remarkable Case" The Eastport Sentinal says that there is a woman at Campobello who has lain upon her bed for sixteen years. She was prostrated after a child birth became paralyzed and has never recovered. The child lived, was healthy and is now a fine young woman - "The woman is not capable of moving any of her limbs in the slightest manner, and cannot sit up. She can hear but cannot speak loud or distinct. What is very remarkable, she appears to be floshy has a fair countenance, and a good appetite, though on account of her immobility, her food is given in thin or liquid form. She does not change for the worse, but remains as she has been for many years. Her bed is made by rolling her from one side to the other, and she has no acute pain. Her hands remain crossed upon her breast - her fingers are white and smooth almost an ivory. It is singular that in this inert state of her body, the process of digestion should on as regularly as it does. Nothing is done for the restoration of this woman. She is now about 40 years old, and during her confinement has seen her hsuband die in the same room occupied by her. ** Now I have checked the 1851 Campo. census looking for a lady age 40 who is "sick" with a 16 year old daughter. The closest thing I can come up with is the mother of a James WILSON who was 23 at the time. His mother, Abigail was listed as 49, she lived with James and his family. There is a 14 year old daughter of Abigail named Thankful who was born in "NS" with the family as well. I have no idea if this is the lady they are speaking of above. Abigail was still alive in 1861 census now 59, b. in NS and living with her daughter Thankful CALDER and hubby John W. Calder. I have also searched the Vital States of the Eastport Sentinal between 1830-1860 looking for clues to the above but came up empty handed... Thanks!
