    3. Hello all: Regarding early Howard family, I am looking for a Joseph Howard who was a 'physicist', as he is listed in old North Carolina records. This could and probably does mean doctor of physics which is a medical doctor, I think. This Mr. Howard was in Cumberland County, North Carolina......in Cross Creek, in approx 1760 fwd. I have reason to think some of my ancestors (REIDS, MCKAYS, etc) may have come down from N.B. into the colonies. They would have come from Scotland originally. My Dr. Thomas McDonald Reid was also a doctor in Cross Creek at that time. He was a loyalist and is found in the records as having a title to Deer Island at one time. If anyone has any information about any of these people, I would certainly appreciate it. 2. Thanks for that Jeremy. Not sure if it helps as yet. It is a bit too "recent". My main interest is in finding out anything about my great-great-grandfather, Thomas D'Walden Howard, or any of his immediate family, e.g. his father was William Howard, died 1888, his brother was William Brunswick Howard, his nephew was Alfred De Walden Howard. All of these would have been in the mid to late 1800's. Having said that, should I ever get anywhere with them, then your Anne may well have descended from one of them (not Thomas, his children were all in England, and are mostly accounted for). Thanks again, Sue

I'm very curious about Rebecca and I have lots of NB Hoyt info I'd love to share. 3. Hi Suzanne; I have a fairly extensive collection of Hayt/Hoyt ancestors beginning with Walter Hoyt b.1490 in England and including my gr.gr.gr.gr.grandmother Betty Hoyt, married to Loyalist Sylvanus Whitney of Norwalk, Connecticut and Saint John. I have several Rebeccas but none of them fits the Trecartin marriage. If there are any other connections, let me know and I'll see what I have.
