Hi Everyone, A message posted to the Nova Scotia list this morning talked about a new mailing list. It didn't make it to this New Brunswick list. Here's what you need to know................... Marilyn NB List Admin ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Rootsweb has created a new mailing list for discussion and sharing of information regarding ancestors who moved from Canada to the United States or from the United States to Canada. For further discussion, to join the list, and to view the current archives of the list, visit http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/Miscellaneous/CAN-USA-MIGRATION.html Betty, List Admin bbffrrpp@comcast.net
Rose, ALL messages now come from "bounces@rootsweb.com" because of the new software used to handle the lists. What a super idea! So many of our rellies hopped back and forth, this could be a real boon to the genealogy world! My MURPHYs certainly went back and forth between St John, New Brunswick to Calais, Maine enough times. And my Ontario rellies, the PFEIFERs and the SCHRADERs were almost more like commuters to / from Michigan. Let us know when we can sign up. Thanks for your idea and your efforts. I, too, would be happy to subscribe. I have many in my family who went from New Brunswick to the US (although I haven't found any [yet] who were Loyalists) ... and if it is going to be Canada-wide this would be perfect for some research I am doing for a friend - Winn's who came to Ontario (Welland area) who I now believe were Loyalists and came to Upper in Canada in the late 1700's. I'm hoping to find a birth or baptismal (R.C.) record for Mary A. McLaughlin, b. NB about May 1842. Her parents were JAMES McLAUGHLIN and MARY O'NEIL. Also, I wonder if James had any siblings who immigrated and remained in NB. James' parents were PATRICK and CATHERINE ( ) McLAUGHLIN. PATRICK McLAUGHLIN was born in Ireland about 1780 and may have immigrated to New Brunswick toward the end of the 1830s. I believe that Patrick had a brother, JOHN McLAUGHLIN (1797-1883) who was married to CATHERINE TRAINOR. The parents of Patrick and John were JOHN & CATHERINE ( ) McLAUGHLIN. Patrick's wife was "Catherine." I have no idea if she made the trip to N.B. Patrick's son, James and his wife Mary (O'Neil) had two children (Catherine and Patrick) born in Ireland in 1837 and 1838. The third daughter, Mary Ann, was born in New Brunswick in May 1842. By 1844-1850, at least some of the family was permanently residing in Providence, Rhode Island. The family at that time included: Patrick McLaughlin (1780-1861) his children James McLaughlin (1810-1862) m. Mary O'Neil Mary McLaughlin (1814-1874) m. Hello Sue (in the UK); Re: ''He lived in Saint John where he built ships such as "Effingham", "Howard", "Anna", and "Whim". My G/uncle, Peter Haggerty Jr, Captained the "Horace Bell" a ship purportedly built in Saint John NB Canada during mid19C. His routes were mainly along the USA east coast & the Carribean during the early 1860's. Did your William Howard happen to have any involvement with the ship "Horace Bell"? Sorry, I know nothing of the Howards. .............. Ed
