    3. Sorry - just noticed your earlier reference to pages 26 & 27 and YES, Thomas is there as follows: It is a list of passengers, all from Yorkshire, who sailed from the Port of Scarborough, England, 12 April 1774. (there is a bit more descriptive here about their journey - if you want it let me know) From Emigrants from England to the American Colonies 1773-1776: 5-12 April 1774: By unnamed ship(s) to Nova Scotia, all from Yorkshire. Thomas Blackburn, farmer, aged 24, wife and child ; same reason. (same reason references other entries above his which I believe indicates that the high of provisions was his reason for leaving. There is also reference to another web site <http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/8429/unwlad.html> which refers to the unknown ship(s) as The Thomas & William or Prince George listed with the identical passenger list. Let me know if you have other questions. 3. Upon a cursory examination of that issue, I do not find the Blackburn name, however that would not mean it isn't there. Do you have any idea what area in NB, the page or focus of the article where Thomas Blackburn was referenced? - that issue is 65 pages long and I don't really have time today to read through the entire issue. However, I would be happy to try to help if I can. 3. Shirley The only information on Thomas Blackburn is as follows: The list of passengers all from Yorkshire who sailed from the Port of Scarborough, England, 12 April 1774. It is said by some that the ship(s) were destined for a New England port but were blown off course during the voyage and the passengers were disembarked in Halifrax, Nova Scotis, May 14/16 1774. Peter Wilson Coldham in Emigrants from England to the American Colonies 1773-1776 said the name of the ship(s) were unknown. A current internet site http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/8429/unwlad.html refers to the ship as The Thomas & William or Prince George and lists the same passengers as does Peter Wilson Coldham. Thomas Blackburn, farmer, aged 28, wife & 2 children; same reason. one of the earlier passengers mentioned the reason was the high price of provisions. 3. Carolyn: The only problem with subing to the digest format, is that you miss way to much info/data that is posted on the list format, because all too frequently list members DO NOT change the SUBJECT to reflect the content of their post. On the other hand list member do not alwayd delete all the previous information from as many as 5-6 e-mails back, which makes for large cunbersome e-mail on the list and take up a lot of space in the archives. 1. [ NB ] Mailing List Tutorial
    2. List Admin
    3. Okay, folks, mailing lists . . . There are 2 ways to get this list LIST - each and every message DIGEST - a group A version in plain text, all the msgs in one email on your screen B version in MIME encoding, each post is an attachment Depending on the list, you MAY have to ask the list admin to put you on one or the other. New Brunswick defaults to the plain text version, so you have to ask me for the MIME version. newbrunswick-admin@rootsweb.com?SUBEJCT=MIME encoding version please Headers . . . bounce in the return address... Cleadie just covered briefly . . . it depends on your email software program how you see things... compact or expanded. Check your tools/preferences and how you can fine-tune your software. Outlook & Outlook express do not allow much tweaking, but Thunderbird, Eudora, Pegasus & Pine do. So you may want to consider changing the software you use to handle your emails. Ditch your Reply to All" button off your tool bar. Mailman, the new software being used by rootsweb to manage it's lists, only allows you to put 8 email addresses in a message, or it will reject your message. Creating a post to more than 1 mailing list, causes havoc for list admins. Let's say you write a message to 3 lists. Someone on list #2 decides to respond, but they are not a member of lists #1 & #3. They click Reply to All, and their post gets rejected by Lists #1 & List #3. Now list admins #1 & #3 have to go and deal with the rejected/bounced message. If it's been a while since you joined a list, you might want to check out Mailing List 101 http://db.tidbits.com/index.php?tbart=05386 List Etiquette at http://www.ualberta.ca/~pletendr/list-net.html Internet Etiquette at http://www.albion.com/netiquette/book/index.html Rootsweb also hosts different Support Groups and you can find that list at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/RootsWeb_Support/ Anytime you have questions about the list and the way it operates feel free to drop me a note OFF LIST at newbrunswick-admin@rootsweb.com Now, back to the topic of New Brunswick genealogy.................
