I'm not working on this family, but I checked Peter Toner's book on Irish-born on the 1851 NB census. At times, he indicates where they were from in Ireland, but he doesn't have any Laverty. Could the following be related? Name arr age Religion census origin Lafferty George 1826 55 Pres Woodstock ------ Toner has 9 Laffertys in all. Margaret age 40 in Sydney Ward, Saint John, was from Co. Fermanagh. None of the others have their Irish origin shown. Hello, Kings Co GenWeb has a few items updated and a few more items to go. I have placed a few files on-line at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cannbfam/ They are misc. historical and genealogical items in pdf format. An Adobe Reader will be needed to access these files. Many of these items were given over to various GenWeb sites, but there may be some new items among them. There are church records for Sunbury County, that I believe are new to the net, ??? I will be adding more as I locate things in my files. Remember to check these against the original files. Also - at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~damery/ there are many cemetery records that have been missing from the net for awhile. So far they are for Kings, Queens and Sunbury Counties, the rest are to come - I hope. Some are on this site, while others are links to where they already are on-line. The focus of this site is to gather photos for the cemeteries, either directly from this site or via links. If you have any pictures you would like to donate, please do so through the e-mail address connected to that site. Cleadie B __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Basically, the answer is "Not in its entirety". Many of the County GenWeb sites have it broken down showing their county 1891 Census returns. I know Queens County has it, or at least has it linked. Would be nice if there WAS some sort of central effort, offering a bit of a "tie-in" to the 1881 (available on FamilySearch.org) and the 1901/1911 available on Automated Genealogy pages. Many also have 1871 available at the County GenWeb level. Some have earlier records, some don't. I'm sure, if you went to CyndisList.com she likely has a good links page for the various 1891 Census holdings available online. I am trying to find any connections to the Phillips family that came to Elgin County and Lambton County ( Bosanquet ) around 1851 from New Brunswick, mainly Carleton County .Those who came to Ontario include the children and grandchildren of Caleb Phillips and Elsy Ann Ackerman. So far we have identified the following with their spouses and in most instances their children. Ebenezer Phillips b 1803, in Yarmouth ,Elgin Cty Elisha Shaw Phillips of Aylmer and St. Thomas Elgin Cty ; James F . Phillips b 1825 of Yarmouth, Elgin Cty; his sons George Phillips of Malahide, and William F b 1831, who went to Lambton County, and Charles Bingley Phillips b 1836 who went on to Michigan ; Thomas b 1818, who went on to Lambton County; Caroline b 1822 who appears to have gone on to Lambton County ; Richard S b 1828 of Elgin and Lambton; Charlotte b 1817 who married James Henry Clark . I cannot find Richard S Phillips after 1871 census and am wondering if he returned to New Brunswick. I know that there is a Caroline Phillips who married Adam Shea, but she was the daughter of Jesse Phillips and of a later date . Would like to hear from anyone connected to any of these families. Thanks Janet Ripley Armstrong
FYI, I've set up a web site with HANNINGTON/HANINGTON family info at http://hannington.wetpaint.com/ Contributions are welcomed. Other family names connected are: TEED, MURRAY, COVERT, HENDERSON, BROWN, etc. Debby Brown-Warren 3rd great granddaughter of William HANNINGTON & Mary DARBY
John, Unfortunately I have no information other than what I put in my posting. Vaughn Gerald HANNINGTON's daughter has been in contact with me and was wondering if I could help her find out info on the STOCKTON family. She has no Christian names. All that she knows is that her father's parents, William & Ella HANNINGTON had gone to the US and Vaughn was living with my great grandparents, Jeremiah & Bertha HANNINGTON on their farm. The story goes that one day Mrs. Stockton was visiting at the farm and found Vaughn crying in the barn, he was not happy living on the farm. Mrs. Stockton got permission from Bertha to take Vaughn to live with the STOCKTON family. All that his daughter knows is that her father spoke very fondly of the family who ran a general store in what she thinks was Petiticodiac. He was very happy living with the family. I found Vaughn living with his grandparents (Jeremiah & Bertha Hannington) in the 1911 Cdn Census, perhaps it was after this that he went to live with the STOCKTONs. In the two marriages of Thomas Coates, the story of the Stockton store is shown with Sterling Leander Stockton born 1858 and wife Ella May (Pearce)operating it at least 1890 to 1898 and their son Lee Blair operating it later up to possibly 1949. Lee married Willa Jones who died 1972. I checked today with an 92 year old lady in Petitcodiac and although she remembers the store she cannot recall any Hanningtons in that village nor around the store. I remember the name Hannington on old tombstones in Hampton Rural cemetery, I seem to recall. Sorry Debby can't help you more on this one. These. Harold D. Stocktons are related to you, in case you did not know ____________________________________________________________________________________ Food fight? Enjoy some healthy debate in the Yahoo!
