I know you can view the 1851 census on line at Library & Archives Canada http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/1851/index-e.html But when you get there, to find the area I am looking, I just don't know where to start. I am hoping that some on this list can direct me in the correct direction. The areas I am looking for as follows; Shinimicas, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada Chapman Settlement, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada Fort Lawrence, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada Newfoundland Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada Gloucester Junction, New Brunswick, Canada I have selected Nova Scotia, but then the Census Districts and Sub-districts, I don't know which one to choose. My options are: Halifax (county), Kings (county), Pictou (county) This is where I don't know the area I am looking for should be. Can anyone direct me to the correct spot. Thanking you in advance Jean M. Smith
Norma, I sent you the 1851 census transcribed from the book. I sent it to browngr@nb.sympatico.ca which was the return address on your email because I didn't want to post it to the list. Hi Norma, Well, the web site states, "*Please note, parts of the 1851 census did not survive and therefore no digital images exist.",* so there may not be any images or transcript available for 1851 in Fredericton.* *Marilyn* *Norma Brown wrote: > There do not appear to be any digital images for Fredericton, district > 92, available as part of the 1851 census on-line. >
There do not appear to be any digital images for Fredericton, district 92, available as part of the 1851 census on-line. Depending on the browser that you use, Internet Explorer, SeaMonkey, Opera, Firefox, most of them allow you to fix how web pages appear on your screen. ie. Firefox Tools>Options>Content>Colors and UNCHECK the box next to "allow pages to choose their own colors" I have mine set to white pages, black type, and I also choose the font size to Arial 14 so I can read it without squinting. Opera also allows you to do this, and I'm sure SeaMonkey/Netscape has it as well under preferences. Internet Explorer, I don't know. Marilyn ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stanley M.
