There was a Catherine (daughter) enumerated with Dr. William Bayard under both variations of the name in 1881 and 1891...could she have signed the letter on William's behalf as his secretary? Hello George, I have checked the 1871 Census index and found two entries for Timothy Collins. With the first one is listed Ellen, Ellen, Patrick, Catherine, Julia, Timothy, Jeremiah, John and Hannah. With the second Timothy Collins the other names are Johanna, Michael, Daniel, Johnanna, Bridget, Mary, Cornealis and John. There is no mention of a Melissa in any of the Collins entries.
