Hello, I just went to find information on the Town of St. David, and came across this web page about John Warren MOORE, an important cabinet maker of the 1800's. I thought someone might be interested in reading it. He had come from Londonderry, NH: http://journals.hil.unb.ca/index.php/MCR/article/viewFile/4167/9778 Turns out, when I did a Google search for "St. David, New Brunswick," many family-web pages show up, and a few Google/Books. This web page has probably been mentioned before, but maybe someone would like to be reminded of it: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nbstdavi/stdacemdir.htm Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) FYI: I have many ancestors who arrived in the MA Bay Colony in the first-half of the 1600's. Two of them were Francis MOORE (arriv. ~1639) and James KIDDER (arriv. ~1649), and James married Anna, dau. of Francis. The is no definitive description of Francis MOORE's family. And there is very little information on the several MOORE / MORE men who arrived and settled in Cambridge around the same time. So, it's a very difficult name to research - as far as 1600's Boston and Cambridge, MA, goes.

Hi List, I am looking for the marriage of Albion KINREAD c1883. Name could also have been Albert KINDRED/KINRED. Also, his father, William KINREAD, does appear in the Westmorland records - 1st marriage 1844 to Margaret LAMB; 2nd marriage 1873 to Eleanor SIMMONS. I'm wondering if there was a marriage for him in between these 2 dates? Shirley

It's a private booklet by the late Julia M. Walker that was sold by the Kings Co. Historical Society in the museum in Hampton. The proper title is "St. Paul's Londonderry and the Shepody Road". The secretary of the society at that time was Faye Pearson when I bought it in 1996. I'm sorry I don't have their contact info , but I'm sure someone else on this list will know. In Julia Walker's "History of Londonderry", she mentions that some thought they were a disbanded military unit that came in Spring 1818, but she felt they were more likely farmers who took up the offer of free land. Julia was an expert in this area and I tend to agree with her as I've never found any military connection to those who settled. I'd like to add that these were hardy people. There was no road into the area at that time. The men started out from Saint John, 50 miles away, followed the Hammond River, with just what they carried on their backs and cut a track through the dense rugged woods. The land was poor for farming and seemed to grow rocks better than anything else. It is now reverted back to woodland and commercial blue berry fields with only rock foundations left. Hi Judy, I did a check of what I have on the settlers of Londonderry,Kings Co.,NB and there is no mention of a McQuin/McQuinn at all. At that period of immigration - settlers seeking the free land - the Irish arrived in Saint John and the Bay of Chaleur area. I would imagine what determined where they landed would be the deals the ships' owners had made with various lumber companies for whom they transported lumber back to Ireland on the return voyages. I hope this helps narrow down your search. I was reading with interest in yesterday's Transcript about the settlers who established Londonderry, NB in 1818. My ancestor, James M.
