John.... I have some of these documents and I really don't understand all of the details so your explanation really helps. I'm wondering why he didn't petition for land earlier say in 1783 or 84 or 85 - why not until 1803. I'm sure he wasn't the only one but so many petitioned and were granted land a lot earlier - 20 years earlier. Could it be that records were lost which given the circumstances would seem plausible. As always... I appreciate your help. Although I live in Ontario, I have researched the early original land records in the court house in Kings Co. for my ancestral Smith family. By doing that I was able to prove that Elizabeth Wright was not always correct in her research/conclusions and this cleared off a huge brick wall for me. Perhaps someone from the Kings Co Historical Society would have kindly a look at the land records books for your Giggey (a family to whom I;m also related)? The books are readily available at the court house and easy to use. As always, original, primary research clearly clarifies many issues. Bev On Thu, Sep 3, 2009 at 2:51 PM, S. Thank you Jared and Marilyn, Unfortunately that is not what I was hoping for.? My William Brown (b 8/12/1833) ?married Mary Elizabeth Weaver (b 9/5/1834) in Portland, St John?9/15/ 1856.? All I have on his parentage is his father was P.H. or P.V. Brown, no mothers name.? William had?the strange middle name of Falls that has carried on in some of the family. He was born in New Brunswick.? His death certificate says his father was also born in New Brunswick.? I found Peter Brown in the 1851 census and felt I had hit pay dirt but it seems it was just another wall.? But thank you both for you help and advice. William Falls Brown came to Minnesota in 1883 and lived in St Francis, MN.? He later moved to Anoka, MN.? He was a member of the M.E. church in St Francis.? He also lived in Fort Fairfield, Arookstook, Maine, 1860 census. Judy in Apple Valley, MN

Thank you to one and all... these records are all great. John Giggey appears to be the elusive one. We have him in the land petitions, etc. but not until later years and I notice that even in the information just sent, there is nothing that makes reference to earlier records. For example, John Giggey received his Grant in 1809 (unless there are Grants which are missing??) and John Crabb received his Grant in 1785. It's all appreciated. If your "search engine" keyword is the same as a city, town, village, township then here is a tip. If your "search engine" keyword you are using is say: pembrok* then your search will pick up all the pembroke surnames....*BUT* ...it will also pick up all the website pages where pembroke is used as a meta name. SOLUTION: Change your keyword to pembrok1 and the search engine will only pick up the gravemarkers with pembroke surname. * 3. Should you wish to help out with this ongoing huge project, please contact Murray at mailto:[email protected] * 4. For those interested, "The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery" is now a "Group" on Facebook. * Bye for now.....Murray * Cdn Gravemarker Gallery - http://www.gravemarkers.ca * Facebook Group: [The Canadian Gravemarker Gallery]

I just came across the following announcement. Knowing how many of you are looking into your Irish heritage I thought I'd share. "All thirty-two counties for 1911 are now available on via. the link shown below. They say: "We have decided to make the material immediately available, in the knowledge that the vast majority of our users will be able to find what they want. The household returns and ancillary records for the censuses of Ireland of 1901 and 1911, which are in the custody of the National Archives of Ireland, represent an extremely valuable part of the Irish national heritage." This sounds like an early access to a work in progress. I haven't explored the site but expect "issues" until it has had some "experience." Dave--MC1 refers to what PANB calls the Family Histories collection. These are not published as far as I know but are lots of letters, notes etc about the families. You might contact PANB to see how to get further info. -- polly
