I decided to put my thinking cap on and see what I could find. I found and had a close look at the 2002 deaths Southland Times list that Chris alluded to. I then looked for any death notice for a David aged 77 in the right time period. I didn’t see any - but there were several David death notices around that time period with age not given. To cut a long story short, this looked a possibility Name : CLARK David Stanley aka Shorty Age : 00 Date in Southland Times : 03.05.2006 <<< fits death 01.05.2006 Date of Death : 00.00.2006 Place of Death : Not Recorded Place of Burial or if Cremated : Service in Invercargill As he was born more than 80 years ago, I looked for him on the BDM Historical Records site and found : 2006/10282 CLARK David Stanley [born] 21 March 1929 BINGO ! The right birth date ! But when did he actually die ? A bit more finger tapping on the BDM site revealed that David Stanley CLARK died on 1/5/2006 !! With that birth and death date correspondence I’m certain that I have found the right chap, but just to be sure, I will email J Fraser & Sons and ask them to confirm that they did his funeral service. I’ll ask them to cc you.
