    3. Megan thanks for your advise post. Like myself I presume you get Digest Mode. It used to be about 10 Messages per Digest, but with all the c...p that is put on automatically by the new owners, and the failure of Subscribers to EDIT replies, I only seem to get 2 Post per Digest. I agree with you this is a total waste and I'm considering going to individual posts rather than getting 3-4 Digests a day (as that wasn't the point) I'm not sure how to contact Hugh now, as the instructions in the Digest aren't clear. However, I agree, ALL subscribers need to work out how to EDIT replies on their systems. Ian

    3. Hi Ian Firstly, what new owners ?? Rootsweb has been owned by Ancestry since the year 2000 Much of the problem has come about by moving to new Mailman software which works in different ways to the old, it was way overdue as the old system was patched up repeatedly to keep it going In the new system various things work in different ways, and its a matter of admins and Rootsweb staff getting over the changes gradually The footers are added by Ancestry/Rootsweb to comply with various regulations, but some subscribers just repeat them, which fills your digest, rather than deleting them when they reply As I have just posted to the list, personally I don't know why there is a digest option these days, there are hardly enough posts to warrant it Twenty years ago I would awake to over 400 rootsweb posts in the morning, these days you are lucky to see 15 from the over 80 lists I subscribe to If you register with Rootsweb (instructions here) https://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ You can control your own account settings, ie change from digest to list and can now put yourself on holiday mode, so remain on the list but receive no posts then change back to receiving when you return You also get a complete list of all the lists you are subscribed to The lack of editing and the oft repeated whole digests are nothing new, subscribers have been doing that for over twenty years, so I have my doubts they are going to learn the process any time soon ;-) Ian, there was a curious address in the To field, which I deleted %(real_name)s-admin"@rootsweb.com Did you mean to use that? To contact Hugh, as with all lists admins, go to https://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ Select Mailing Lists from the top bar menu, search for and select the list of interest, in this case :- https://mailinglists.rootsweb.com/listindexes/search/NEW-ZEALAND Which will have the correct addresses for subscribing/unsubscribing and the list admin plus a link to that lists archives If registered with Rootsweb all that is much easier as all lists are in your own account Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 16/07/2018 02:39, Ian Grace wrote: > Megan > thanks for your advise post. > Like myself I presume you get Digest Mode. > > It used to be about 10 Messages per Digest, > but with all the c...p that is put on automatically > by the new owners, and the failure of Subscribers > to EDIT replies, I only seem to get 2 Post per Digest. > > I agree with you this is a total waste and I'm > considering going to individual posts rather than > getting 3-4 Digests a day (as that wasn't the point) > > I'm not sure how to contact Hugh now, as the > instructions in the Digest aren't clear. > However, I agree, ALL subscribers need to work > out how to EDIT replies on their systems. > > Ian > >
