    3. Hi Sue & All: A Guide to 19th century New Zealand artists on NZETX (which says she mainly painted flower studies) says she was Francis Edith Richardson, later wife of Eardley Culley Reynolds of Dunedin, and that she exhibited in Otago from 1883 to 1920, They were married on 23 October 1890; see “Fashionable wedding” at St Peters, Wellington in the Press of 23 October. Both fathers were MPs and became MLCs in the Upper House (Legislative Council). No obvious Nelson connections? The bride was a daughter of the Hon Edward Richardson, MP for Kaiapoi and connected with construction of the Lyttelton Tunnel; and the groom was a son of Hon W H Reynolds ex-MP for Dunedin, who in 1893 was one of two opposition MLCs who foiled “”King Dick” Seddon’s plan to defeat votes for women in the upper house after it had been approved in the lower house (Seddon and brewing interests were opposed to woman’s sufferage as many were prohibitionists. Yours, John Wilson http://nzetc.victoria.ac.nz//tm/scholarly/tei-PlaNine-t1-body-d1-d1007.html Subject: [nz] Frances Edith Richardson - artist in NZ We have recently acquired a painting by a FE Richardson of early Nelson. On hunting on Google we have discovered that she was Frances Edith Richardson who also sometimes painted under her maiden name Frances Edith Reynolds. I’ve done a quick search on Archway and also on BDM and can not find any trace of her birth, marriage or death or anything more about her. Can anyone help? Grateful for any information. Sue Thomas, Nelson
