I am tracking a family in Australia and there was an article on Trove regarding a custody matter in Auckland Supreme Court. Several questions- would these matters be reported in full in Auckland newspapers, or would there be some sensitivity towards the parties, one of whom lived in Auckland. The court case occurred in 1949. If there were open reporting and someone has access to 1949 newspapers, I will provide more details. And secondly which law applies when relatives retain custody of children say in 1930's and 40's when child protection/child welfare is not involved?
