I am very sorry to read in NZSG Magazine the death of ANNE PICKETTS, we never met, got very close some years ago when I was in WAIPU but couldnt find her in town, she wasnt on duty at the Museum that day, I had chance to be visiting with the King descendants and said I would love to meet Anne at Waipu.. She had roots down at Clareville Cemetery. Found Anne like most genealogist very helpful.. she will be sadly missed. I too, am very sorry about Anne. My father's mother was a decendant of the families who settled in Waipu after arriving in Auckland on the Breadalbane, and descendants still live there today. Anne helped me massively when I first heard about the Waipu Museum, and over the years as I got more and more hooked. I'm sad that I never got around to telling her about my 3 times great grandfather, and his sad story, while he came to Australia as a soldier and the 65th Regiment, his Dad was languishing as a prisoner in Van Diemens land, after being found gulity of stealing two tankards from his estranged wife's pub. But for all Anne's help, I would never have found him.
